Fellow UCC Member Senator Barack Obama spoke at the UCC Synod on June 23, 2007. He really hit the nail on the head with what I've been try'n to say about my faith and the current political situation. Here's some Highlights:
"So doing the Lord's work is a thread that's run through our politics since the very beginning. And it puts the lie to the notion that the separation of church and state in America means faith should have no role in public life. Imagine Lincoln's Second Inaugural without its reference to "the judgments of the Lord." Or King's "I Have a Dream" speech without its reference to "all of God's children." Or President Kennedy's Inaugural without the words, "here on Earth, God's work must truly be our own." At each of these junctures, by summoning a higher truth and embracing a universal faith, our leaders inspired ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things.
But somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who've been all too eager to exploit what divides us. At every opportunity, they've told evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their Church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage; school prayer and intelligent design. There was even a time when the Christian Coalition determined that its number one legislative priority was tax cuts for the rich. I don't know what Bible they're reading, but it doesn't jibe with my version.
But I'm hopeful because I think there's an awakening taking place in America. People are coming together around a simple truth – that we are all connected, that I am my brother's keeper; I am my sister's keeper. And that it's not enough to just believe this – we have to do our part to make it a reality. My faith teaches me that I can sit in church and pray all I want, but I won't be fulfilling God's will unless I go out and do the Lord's work."
Obama just became my candidate! Universal Healthcare, taking care of the poor, and educating our children are the top issues i care about. We need to think of the young and the old and make sure the beginning and end of life aren't traumatic and stressful. I really don't care about abortion, death penalty, or gun control as they will not directly affect me (not saying i don't have views on them!). The top issues and plans to enact on them are very important and i'm happy obama laid these out.

Heresy
Panzer Pope is on a rampage! First Ratzinger brings back the latin mass.. cause that's exactly what the catholic church needs, a dude babble'n in a dead language about things that normal people don't understand in THEIR OWN LANGUAGE! Also declares in this article that "that other Christian denominations were not true churches". Well count me out then!
If the catholic church is the only true church, then i want no part in it. I thought the founder of the whole religion was out to tell us that we don't really need laws and churches and institutions to get to God, all we needed was love and anything that helped remind us of that love. That is what church is to me, a way to remind myself of God's love and help focus my energy on finding the answers to the present questions bothering me.
Ratzinger also stated "Christian denominations because it said they were not true churches but merely ecclesial communities and therefore did not have the "means of salvation." I would argue that NO CHURCH has the "means of salvation". To me the entire ministry of Jesus and the teachings of Islam and Judaism state that only God can bring salvation and that the individual has to choose if he or she wants to follow that path. Buddha came right out and said that salvation lies within the INDIVIDUAL and I believe that's what religion is calling us to do, wake up and smell the salvation!
This pope is on crack. This is why ppl do not like religion because it's constantly argue'n with itself and looking completely useless and detacted from the REAL church of the human global society.
Switching gears, I saw this all day on Robin and Company:
Michael Moore Serves Wolf
I don't agree with Michael Moore 100% but I really think he brings up great points to consider. And he was completely right about Iraq. I gotta go see sicko and see what's up with this! Another way to illustrate that we are in charge of our own destinies and we must realize this fact before churchs and governments run us into the ground.

Seven Nation Army Couldn't Hold Me Back
Yeah that's right!! Lotsa good stuff goings on here. I just went in front of the Potomac Association to become "in care" and got it! What this means is that after I graduate in 3 years from seminary, the Association will ordain me if I so choose the route of pastoral care. Right now it seems that that's what I'm heading for.
Some interesting questions posed such as:
"What parts of the Bible are you not familar with?"
Pretty much Old Testament after Deuteronomy. We covered a lot in ol' Catholic religion class but it was just the first 4 texts of the old testament.. with a few prophets thrown in so they can say "jesus is coming, jesus is coming, JESUS IS COMING!" and then BANG! New Testament, he's here. We learned up until Acts and then a little revalations thrown in for some doom and gloom. I'd love to tackle the whole darn book and see what i find now.
"Where do you see yourself? What's your ministry about?"
I see myself as a pastor of a church and I hope to target people ages 20 to mid to late 30s. When i tell some of my friends that i'm going into the ministry they're like "that's nice but you know how i feel about religion" (to call them out, mainly OU Ken and The Famous Mister Edwards). I agree with them whole heartedly. Christianity has been taken over and defined by the crazy fundie right-wingers just as Islam has been branded in much the same way. Religion is HARD. It's about loving people for who they are, not who they're supposed to be. Jesus didn't hang with prositutes and tax collectors to guilt them into a better life. He loved them for where they were, and that love caused them to realize that God loves them just as much as anyone else. That asshole that cuts you off in traffic, the rival team that constantly beats your fav. team (i.e. Yankees, Spurs, and Ravens/Steelers), and even that homeless guy you pass everyday, God loves them just as much as He loves you. That's a hard call to answer. Religion isn't easy, it isn't supposed to be. But great things happen to ppl once they're out of their comfort zone.
"What gifts to you bring to the ministry?"
Well half way through my sermon, I'll break for a commercial sponsered by some corporation. PLUS! I'll integrate their product seemlessly into my ministry. Here's an example of what i'm talking about:
I feel a great need to rally the younger generation. We need to mobilize against this onslaught of political corruption, religious bigotry, and social elitism. America needs a gut check, and I hope to be in a position to work towards a better tomorrow through my ministry and UCC affliation.
I can't wait to get to Lancaster PA (not OHIO, sorry Ali!) and start down this road. AND one of my fav. senior high students will be up there! I'm looking forward to hanging out with MALICE and catching up and also see'n what music she's into. Girl has like 600,000 some odd songs from her iTunes and 5,000+ points on the ever so addicting iLike music challenge (which i'll beat her on).
And now, the coolest heckler joke:

The Problem with Herzog
The last year the Ohio University Post has done something very commendable by having it's own conservative collumnist Ashley Herzog. I say commendable as the media has an obligation to present both sides of an argument to creative constructive debate in a opinion column. I say Opinion column as the media has no obligation to either side, just the facts when it comes to delivering the news (a fact that more and more news organizations seem to be forgetting as battle lines are drawn).
My buddy OU Ken got me reading her articles every Tuesday on the Post online magazine. Needless to say OU K was outraged by every single word Ashley put on the paper and wanted my opinions on the majority of them. Upon reading her columns I saw what offended OU K so much as Ashley was challenging most of his unquestionable tenants of liberalism i.e. Abortion, Iraq War, and Feminism. My belief is to question everything. Hit a belief from every angle to see if it holds up. This stems from the Buddhist saying "Believe nothing true you find in books, hear from friends or wise teachers. Take nothing on faith. But believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto."
What I did disagree with was Ashley's Ann Coulter style of an us-v.s.-them pandering towards one's base tactics as well as twisting facts to meet her arguments. The grosses example was her article on the gender paygap (wiki definition here). She argued that women don't get paid as much as men because of their job choices which is a valid point but the study already compensated for this. So i wouldn't caulk it up to a twisting of the facts than a rookie mistake and seeing what you want to see, as mistake we've all done, libs, repubs, conservs, and dems alike.
This was the only article I disagreed with 100% as the logical foundation of the argument was flawed. But I must admit I've only read the articles from this past quarter not ones before February 2007, so I might retrack this statment.
My biggest point is her fire-brand US v.s. THEM! tactics. Broad generalizations and mud slinging at 'Liberals' really eskew her good points, and she does have good points. Such as why do feminists seem revel in promiscuity? where's the line between sexual liberation and a new form of sexual serfdom? why can't one be a conservative feminist and be accepted? All these arguments are lost by her Coulter-esque bashings and most ppl feel so poked in the eye that they will either toss out her whole argument like OU K did or just not read anything she writes.
I'm really sick of the libs v.s. conservatives. I consider myself a liberal, such a liberal infact that i see both sides of the argument reguardless of party affliation. But the muckrackers like Coulter, O'Rielley, Rush, Stern, and several others do no good to fostering an intelligent debate on Iraq, Abortion, or any other issue. We really need to realize that America has progressed as it has not on the sole policies of any liberal or conservative administration, but from a mix of both. If we were completely conservative like Ashley wants, we would never progress anywhere nor would we rationally debate anything.
Now this next statement is speculation and a generalization as well but please forgive me as i try to prove a point. If we were completely liberal like OU K would be we would have no measurements or finacial indicators to show how a certain program or policy is working. We need both! Liberals for new ideas for progressing and considering the welfare of those effected by the laws and conservatives to put in a business mindset to see if programs are working and efficent. There is no us v.s. them is just an US. We need to realize this and work forwards.
OU K is right that Iraq is a complete disaster and the war on terror is unwinable how we are currently fighting it. He's right that our school and most social systems need overhauled. Ashley is right that Abortion is a terrible thing to go through and should be used only in drastic circumstances and not for birth control.
OU K and Ashley agree on more than they realize. But the mudslinging and cheap shots have to stop for us to gain any clarity so we can move forward together and get us out of this mess that we made (yes WE meaning bush for the war and those idiots who voted for it!).
So my plea is for OU K to remember that we do need to consider how to measure our success and that we need to continually question ourselves as liberals do not have a hold on the truth alone. My plea to Ashley is to continually listen and not try to KO the otherside as they have valid points.

Get'n my Robe On
Sooo.. I've alluded to a big change coming up way back in previous posts and now i can finally say it! I'm gonna be a minister!!
Yeah. that's right. Standing up and speaking every sunday at a church. Kate and I will be move'n to Lancaster PA so i can study at Lancaster Theological Seminary. Kate will be my sugar mamma as her work has an office in Harrisburg PA. So we're moving in on 8-26 and I can't wait to start! My work has been very supportive and although sad to lose me they are happy at my choice of profession.
So what does that mean for this blog? Can i still post things like this?
YES! I'm a minister, not a priest! It's good to be a protestant cause you can marry and have kids! Yay for UCC!
Also in honor of star war's 30th anniversary, here's another post to celebrate and so Rasmus won't be sad that i forgot. I mean, with a name like Luke, you gotta love this movie. I think I'm named after it cause of the following reasons:
1. It was 1982
2. Star Wars Rules!
3. Cool Hand was in the 1960s, so I couldn't be named after him (plus he's a convict with no Jedi powers)
4. The author of the Bible is what my mom says, but you know what they say... "The pen is mightier than the sword but ain't worth a steam'n pile of dog poo against a lightsaber"

Falwell Dies, Liberals Will Still Burn
How will we function? Liberals are doomed? Who will guide us now?
With such great directive quotes such as:
If you're not a born-again Christian, you're a failure
as a human being.
Rev. Jerry Falwell
"Somewhere in the past generation,
we've lost our biblical mind and not arranged
something better in its place.
We need a spiritual brainwashing,"
Jerry Falwell
There are almost as many alcoholics as there
are negroes."
Rev. Jerry Falwell
and my favorite quip:
And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But,
throwing God out successfully with the help of the
federal court system, throwing God out of the public
square, out of the schools. The abortionists have
got to bear some burden for this because God will
not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million
little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really
believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and
the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who
are actively trying to make that an alternative
lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way -
all of them who have tried to secularize America -
I point the finger in their face and say "you
helped this happen."
Rev. Jerry Falwell
Man, i hope i don't start tolerating liberals, homo's, and such like without his expert guidance.
i could make a cheap jab at Jerry's expense, but i only pray that he knows the truth and peace that springs eternal in God.

Chew On This
Hey Y'all!
Last nights Lost was a doozie! The quick run down is that Ben has father issues and killed off all the Dharma Intitiative peeps by gas'n them. Ben takes Locke to see "Jacob" who speaks to Locke. Locke is then shot by Ben and left for dead in the open grave of the Dharma ppl. Here's the entire run down on About.com
There are many theories floating around to the nature of the island and motivations of Ben. Some say it's hell, some say a limbo of some sort, some speculate it's an electromagnetic sensitive place. The Poprocks Blog has a good run down of theories and speculations. Another good run down can also be found on the New York Mag online.
Here's my amatuer assessment of the island's true nature. The writers have put in a lot of Stephen King references, from the book review of Carrie to numerous others.. for the full run down check out this post.. So for me to come out and say what the island is it would have to explain the following:
1. Reappearance of Dead People
2. Miraculous Healing (Locke being prime example)
3. The Black Cloud
4. How can their be crash survivors when their plane being 4 miles under the sea
In Stephen King's magnum opus The Dark Tower Series, the Dark Tower is the center of the multi-verse. The point where all dimensions and universes come together into one point. If the island is this world's Dark Tower, it would explain a lot. The island would be "thin" where long dead people can cross over and contact those on the island. Also this would explain how there could be no survivors of flight 815 and yet have survivors on the island at the same time ala Donnie Darko. This incorporates tangent universes, multiple life-locations, and even Locke's healing (because he was never paralyzed in this dimension/tagent universe).
Granted there's a lot of work that needs to go into this theory and a whole lot more research than i'm prepared to give to it. I think my buddy Jason would be the go to guy to confirm or deny, as he's the one who got me hooked on this damn show that never gives me answers!!!!

You can't pick your family
i say this every time i'm frustrated at idiot customers, crazy beltway drivers, and when my family freaks out. this reminds me of the bond of humanity and that everyone passes your way for a reason. it reminds me that we're all children of God and that we're all loved the same by God. my idiot customers teach me tolerance and humility and that they think i'm an idiot just as much as i think they are. the beltway drivers teach me to not be a hypocrit and be conscious of how well i'm driving. my family freak outs teach me how much love them and want them to be happy.
thomas jefferson said "Every generation needs a new revolution" and i'm lucky enough to have one everyday. they aren't huge ones like over coming cancer or struggling to feed myself or how to decrease my carbon output.. they don't need to be. but small revolutions in perception are key. a little each day will add up to something grand.
no one said life is easy. it is esp. hard if you try to live a Christian/Buddhist life... or any religion for that matter. Christianity is HARD. It's not meant to be easy. our religion is based on a guy who was nailed to a tree for being nice... and then came back and was nice again after death. He either didn't learn his lesson, or being nice is more important and sustaining than everyday life is willing to admit. christianity is not for the faint of heart. so if you decide to call yourself that, be conscious of your decision.
so enough of that metaphysical ramble! lots of things happen'n here! all good things but incredibly huge things. great movement is about to take place. more on this when i'm at liberty to say. good things are also happen'n in the movies, we saw spiderman 3.. and it was good but not the best out of the three. i liked when he was being agressive and was fighting new goblin. the action scenes were great... the love story a little weak. the problem of superhero stories is that the director must keep it real and not run into the realm of hokie. this director failed on this call on a few occations... but no where near the failure of the fantastic four did. keep spidy real and grounded and not dancing around a jazz club to show his ex-girlfriend what's up.
here's an awesome movie i can't wait for!!!!
good ol' neil gaiman! AWESOME! and there's actors that i actually KNOW in it too!! sweet dude!
so i charge you guys to strive to be better ppl and to read every neil gaiman book you can! life is good, God is love, transcedence is a step away.
thomas jefferson said "Every generation needs a new revolution" and i'm lucky enough to have one everyday. they aren't huge ones like over coming cancer or struggling to feed myself or how to decrease my carbon output.. they don't need to be. but small revolutions in perception are key. a little each day will add up to something grand.
no one said life is easy. it is esp. hard if you try to live a Christian/Buddhist life... or any religion for that matter.

Guns and Forks
I LOVE this Washington Post article which pretty much says everyone agrees we need gun control.. but nobody will admit it.
Here's the two stances and what's inherently wrong with them:
NO GUNS
for the world to be safe without guns.. all guns.. every gun in the world would have to be destroyed... this is as likely to happen as I will stop liking ice cream and candy bars. i know it's bad for me, but it's so so good.
ALL GUN ALL THE TIME
this has worked out great! since we've been working on this there has been no shootings at high schools and universities, no robberies, and none of that pesky shooting your family members in the dark because you think they're robbers. maybe the NRA is right!! wait a sec..
Here's my proposal that the Washington Post article argues (kinda) as well. Let's make everyone who thinks of owning a gun a professional.. so that their gun is not cool, not some movie awesomeness... it's a tool to use to accomplish a task.. like a... like a fork.
Just imagine, if little bobby wants to show timmy his fathers gun it would be like showing timmy the silverware drawer.
As a one time member of the NRA and a liberal voting Democrat, I feel that there SHOULD be control in the form of safety regulations. If you have a license for a car, then what’s so bad about a license for a gun? What is better for our countries protection than an armed citizen group who is trained and knows how to use their weapons? How does this random untrained mob a benefit to the nation? How does an ignorant mob honor our founding fathers and their revolutionary idea of the second amendment? I think a rational approach from both sides would be the best way. It may not stop all crime, but people will be better prepared when crime does happen through these training and licensing programs.
And while we're dealing with how to deal with loners and reach out to the affected in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech Shootings, let's check out what's happening in Germany.....

Apart for Now
My love,
we are not together today,
and I'm sorry for this,
but let others spend time with you,
for they know half my bliss.
we will be together again,
(birds, hearts, and stereotypes will sing)
with yesterday's same passion,
our love keeps ripening.
we are not together today,
but we will not fold,
to be with you again in many future days,
and i hope i will remember them all,
when i am old...
-original poem from 2-15-02
Kate found this today and i think it would be good to post it here... just because everyone needs a little poetry in their day and maybe, a little love as well.

Fearless With Some Loathing in Las Vegas
Oh holy crap! We went to Las Vegas the last week of Feb. with Kate and the inlaws and man o man did we have an adventure!

The first time I ever felt like a wide-eyed country kid in the big city was the moment we walked into the Vegas airport... where they have slot machines! In the airport! I didn't know what to expect from Vegas... well, that's not true, you, imaginary reader, know my imagination. I was expecting Elvises to be walking around with nakkid robot showgirls.
Anway, while we were waiting for the In-Laws, we were treated to a nice view of the strip at night where we could see the Luxor and a few others. On the whole, my fav. building at night is the Luxor... it just looks freak'n sweet. like some pagan Alien signal beacon thingie... it's just bad assed.

So Papa Bob, Kate and I ate while mai gambled. This is a re-occuring theme throughout the trip. mai would gamble and the rest of us would get frustrated at lose'n $5 we'd head to see a show or chill out at one of the many bars in a casino. Papa Bob and Kate have no stomach for gamble'n, although Kate is pretty luck at the slot machines. mai on the other hand is tenacious and i believe walked out of vegas with some serious coin by just play'n the slots. i on the other hand am a sore loser. the feeling of winning a few bucks is totally trumped by the awful feeling of lose'n $.05. i'm awfule. maybe if i tried a table game like poker or blackjack... but the slots seemed like a waste to me.
Vegas is over the top. It's like Times Square times a million. So the first day out walking around to Ceasar's Palace and the Venian was all really cool, but once we had time to think about it, it seemed like such extravagance. i mean, that's the point of Vegas, but it seems like they'd have a little more love for the public systems and schools. My friend Katie is out there (from the Armbruster days) and she's working on getting school kids health coverage. Pretty crazy from places where the casinos make $40,000 just out of their fountains! So the second day we headed out to the 8th wonder of the world, the HOOVER DAM!
THEN! We were stranded for 48 hours by snow storms back in DC... so that's two more days off work wondering around Sin City. THAT was the hardest part. We ran and did the super-whirlwind tour and thought we had nothing else to do and then BAM! two extra days. of nothing to do. we should all be so lucky! it wasn't actually too bad, but we were just ready to leave, and one can only wear the same pair of undies for so long.
so here's some pix of me and my smoke'n hot wife!

The worst part is that even with the 48 extra hours we couldn't see the Treasure Island Siren Spectacular because of high winds... that's 5 days in a row with no sexy pirate girls... so here's the video:
We did see the volcano at the mirage and the belagio water show and the ceasar's palace animatronic dudes... all and all, i'd do it again!

In Addition! McCain Sucks More!
In 1999, the “moderate” version of John McCain said that overturning Roe v. Wade would be dangerous for women and he would not support it, even in “the long term.” Here’s McCain in the San Francisco Chronicle:
"I’d love to see a point where it is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations."
But this morning, McCain flip flopped right on the headlines of MSN.com saying, “I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned,” the Arizona senator told about 800 people in South Carolina, one of the early voting states.
DOUCHEBAG! And to think I thought he was a decent person. In fact here is my face whilest I was reading this article:

I'll vote for someone who is true to themselves, if there is such a thing left in Washington. And to further the issue here's Russert nail'n his balls to the wall:
It's kind of painful to watch cause he knows he's flipped and his real self want's to say "I DON'T MEAN IT I"M JUST SAY'N THIS CRAP TO GET ELECTED" but he doesn't and like the old addage says "you can poo in one hand and wish in the other but you'll get locked up for indecent exposure". At least this is how my grandpa told it, but he was crazy. Crazy like this guy
And to make it up to you, here's the only time Jimmy Kimmel Show is funny!

Tom Hanks is not in this post
lots of people ask me "Toothface, what are your fav. websites?" and that I'll say "HOW'D YOU GET THIS NUMBER?" Well here are my two fav. websites, one is my all time and one is a recent find. Either one will make you laugh until your face melts.
Real Ultimate Power!
This was a college fav. I think Steve V introduced me to it, but i'm not sure. It's awesome no matter what. I looooove ninjas! Growing up in the late 80s and early 90s, ninjas were it. Even some of the ninjas were pizza eating mutant turtles! It is a universal fact that all American males around my age love 1. The Simpsons 2. Ninjas 3. can name at least 3 G.I. Joe's 4. Had a crush on the girl from the whitesnake video, the now not-so-hot-batshit-crazy Tawney Kitaen.
My fav. part of this website is the testamonial:
"Ninjas can kill anyone they want. Ninjas cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it. These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time. I heard that there was this ninja who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the ninja killed the whole town. My friend Mark said that he saw a ninja totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window."
Here's the new one! I found this browse'n on myspace and here it is in all it's glory.
TOM OATMEAL
I don't know who or what this guy is, but i cry tears the size of raptor eggs when i read it. My fav. part is in the post called "Investor Needed For My New Film" where Tom gives reasons why you should invest in his film: "Reason #6: Unlike most movies, this masterpiece is totally unpredictable. As the audience watches, they begin to realize that the film is nothing like the trailer. For one, Tom Hanks is not in it and that scene where a man yanks a bolt of lightning out of the sky and uses it as a whip is nowhere to be found. When the film is over, most of the audience will be surprised by the twist at the end. If some audience members aren't surprised, don't worry. They will be when they walk out the exit to discover the theater is really a truck that has been driving them away from the parking lot since the movie started."
I also like the social justice stuff like Mother Jones and the ever-fun wikipedia and other "smart blogs" but i didn't want to bore you. Plus i was feeling down cause now i'm back at work after a sweeeet snow day. I was happy to be like my hero Nick who hasn't worked for most of this month.
Plus it's hard to function when customers will do the following:
Customer: I'm looking for a product for a home theater.
Toothface: Great! What product is it?
Cust: The one for the home theater.
TF: Right... are you looking for drywall, insulation, the actual system?
Cust: It's in a blue bag.
TF: Alright.....
The conversation continues on like this for 4 more hours, but you get the idea. I'd like to think i'm a patient person. I also thank God everyday has God tests this patients all the time. I think the customer's brains are still on their snow day.
So far all is well and we're gearing up to head out this weekend. so that'll be fun. Then next week it's off to vegas where we might even see one of my fav. ol' rezzies, Katie B.

Excellent time to be a Dorky Democrat!
I try, i really do try to see both sides. I've always said that if McCain ran for office, i'd vote for him. However there seems to be a discrepancy between the man McCain and the candidate McCain. Here's an example of what i mean:
Holy Monkey Turds! A candidate that talks out of both sides of his mouth?! Who'd heard of that? Not in these parts! So that's nothing new, but what really caught my attention was this Washington Post article Kate found. The issue of campaign finance is what drew me to John. Johnny and i would spend long nights over a glass of Pinot Noir and gaze into each others eyes and talk about ending soft money and limiting spending to a socially responsible level. But now i see he's been cheating on me. That night in Morrocco meant nothing to me JOHN! We're over! You hear me! And stop calling me for booty calls between tuesday and thursday! We both know you're just jet setting back to your wife for the "congressional weekend". ass.
In other news, a favorite book of mine is coming to comics!

While a favorite comic is going to HBO!The Preacher is coming to HBO! Okay, God goes away on vacation and the battle between Heaven and Hell rages might be a weak plot... but when you're sixteen and all hormones... man did that sound cool!
And finally to prove that i'm a massive dork, here's a funny little spoof on some game'n platforms that i don't agree with... but it's funny!

Stars that Clear
Another version of my patent pending HYPERLINK POETRY! For those of you who aren't familiar, i take somes songs and mash 'em together to form a new poem with a cohesive message. i think this fits to my last post.
It's funny how songs just pop up randomly into your life. The day of the last post, i popped in Bright Eye's I'm Wide Awake It's Morning cd and was just hit over the head. The lyrics hit home, said just what i was feeling. i find that amazing. This CD is amazing. It's a mix of dylan, springsteen, and cash rolled into one. i'm surprised i liked it! and then we went to the O.A.R. concert with Jason and Lindsay this past friday at GMU... and they really rocked the house! another time where the lyrics just hit you in the gut and run away with it. I never really listened to O.A.R., but their lyrics are pretty profound. very positive and transcendent. i really had a great time.
so here's the poem that sums up my last post with a mix of Bright Eyes, Death Cab, and O.A.R.
Stars that Clear
If you hate the taste of wine,
Why do you drink it till you're blind?
And if you swear that there's no truth and who cares
How come you say it like you're right?
Why are you scared to dream of God
When it's salvation that you want?
You see stars that clear have been dead for years
But the idea just lives on...
In our wheels that roll around
As we move over the ground
And all day it seems
we've been in between
A past and future town
We are nowhere and it's now
When you are on your own
not speaking out is like fighting alone
and that is the worst damn way to fight
and when you are scared no more
you reach your hand out and just open the door
and thats just what I'm doing tonight
And I'm not sure what the trouble was that started all of this
The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did
It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live
Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is
And all you see
Is where else you could be
When you're at home
Out on the street
Are so many possibilities
To not be alone

And I'm not sure what the trouble was that started all of this
The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did
It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live
Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is
And all you see
Is where else you could be
When you're at home
Out on the street
Are so many possibilities
To not be alone

We are all fascists
Quick post here, as i don't really feel like tackle'n the massive amount of things i must do today. i know the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, but i know where that step leads, and i wanna put that off for 10 more minutes.
speaking of putting things off... i've been reading a few blogs and listening to a few friends who keep saying "things will change, i really mean it this time!". i'm getting tired of it. you either are or you are not. transistions don't take that long if you're serious about change. i guess people are secure in their sadness.
the point i'm trying to make is a long one, and i don't have time for that, so here's the short point. We're all fachists when it comes to life. The world is controlled by the ego, the ME worldview is pretty limited. ME is bigger than you, period. So when I'M sad and shitty, I'M not seeing how this effects you, nor do I really care because I can't see past MY own issues/sorrow/whatever. driving people away is not a good thing, esp. when people want to help and get one out of the state one's in. but that all starts with wanting to get out of that state in the first place.
The only way out is breaking the ME worldview and coming into the WE worldview... or at least a me worldview. so that's my response to that garbage.
in addition, hellogoodbye is my current audio addiction! check 'em out!
and the current books i'm reading is START WHERE YOU ARE, Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things, and King's The Shining on audio book. All are completely awesome. Esp. the start where you are book, that's a good book on coming into the WE worldview.
kate and i are still on our battlestar galactica kick... love that show! burrito's bach. party is coming up, so i'm excited for that! lots of stuff in the works! it'll be exciting!

King of the Dorkdom
some people are very surprised that i was a dork in high school. i'm baffled by this. there is no WAS.... i WAS a dork in high school and still am! don't let the sexy fool ya, imaginary reader, i've got full blown dork in recent weeks.
My best bud Megan told me about this XBOX game called FABLE and how it was the smaw'someness game ever. So i bought it on impluse the other day at best buy and it has already endangered my marriage. yes, it's that good!

FABLE follows the story of a kid whose family is killed by bandits and is taken to a hero training center. he grows up and then starts to make choices and every choice you make turns you more good or evil. people react to you character based on how good/evil it is i.e. running away from the evil dude or having a crush on the good dude. it's very intense and ton of fun... at least for me. Kate is beginning to hate the game (although she'd love it if she ever played it.)
the game play is a mix of Diablo meets Grand Theft Auto and the character is like Link from the Legend of Zelda (THE greatest all-time games in the Lindon household) using the sword and bow. You can use more magic, but i'm still try'n to figure those out. my only gripe is that sometimes the text doesn't show up all the time, so that makes making decisions a little harder.
now and update on the day-to-day activities!
the last couple days at work have been killer. just felt like they've dragged on and that's the least of my worries! yesterday the copier attacked me! here's fotage of the attack when i was wearing my fav. black dress.
my truck is also in the shop, so i get to drive around a rental car! pretty cool right?! nooooo. here's what they gave me:

it's the size of a matchbox. it's like drive'n a roller skate. although it is funny to see a 6'4" dude climb out of a 4' long car. i feel like i'm in high school again drive'n around THE MUTT!
but it's all good. my birthday just passed and i'm 25 which means i can rent that car for cheap and my insurance is coming down! Kate also got me tickets to see the Wizards v.s. The Lakers, Heat, and Celtics! How awesome is that?! Also we went out to Hard Times and had a few beers with our fav. Jaycee friends Jason and Lindsey. Good times!
Til next time! peace!

So this is the New Year
and i don't feel any different...
i know this video doesn't show up on my facebook feed, so just check the blog. i love this band! kate still thinks that they are too affected. or is it effected? i never got that right in Journalism 103.
it's no secret that i don't really like new years... the holiday of the nano-second is not a friend of mine mainly due to the fact that it feels like a holiday of forced fun. however this new years was really fun! and 2007 seems like a year of great changes for the better.
Mom and Val came out with Chance in tow. It was great to see my prissy old dog shy away and stress out about Sonny, the excited loving new dog. We had a great visit and some highlights include visiting the postal museum, the national aquarium, and eating at Pelican Petes (best seafood in germantown!). Mom and I played some Madden 07 and she was pretty good at it!
So all is well and i'll update you, imaginary reader, about the possible changes that 2007 holds.

This Season, Give the Gift of Love
Please don't tell anyone, but i've found the perfect gift to give a loved one this holiday season! i think everyone on my list (excluding family members... except for maybe Garry... that saucey minx) needs to get this gift i saw on SNL this past weekend:
seriously... it was the funniest SNL for a long while. plus it helped that justin timberlake (the future mr. lindon) was the host/musical guest. say what you want, but i really like his stuff and style. he's my man-crush. and that's okay... .or that's what i keep tell'n myself.
so what else is going on with me besides my man-love JT fantasies? i'm glad you asked! we've got most of the holiday junk done and out the door. kate and i made some of our holiday treats this past weekend... so i guess the domestic weekend has got me all martha stewart today. we also have some weighty issues to think on as to some career moves. i would post more on that but i'll save it until things become more concrete... those of you who know me, i don't like too much speculation on action... philosophy yes, logistics no. you either are going to do something or you aren't. if you're still in the maybe stage, then talk about it, don't post it up on your blog. ACTION PEOPLE! what we're looking for is results! and as a result, i shall remove myself from my digital soapbox for yet another day until i feel like waste'n more time at work!
happy chanukah, y'all!

Videos! While you Wait!
So here are my new loves all in one post! YouTube, Death Cab for Cutie, and Robot Chicken!
Kate and I went to Death Cab for Cutie at constitution hall in november... and they solidified their place as my favorite band. they also solidified their place as kate's vote for the EMO-est band. but that's okay, i love songs that tell a story and that's what they do. here's a clip from my fav. title they played "Title and Registration"
This is just too much. Robot Chicken is off the chain!
I LOVE Calvin and Hobbes but this clip proves that if this happened in real life, it wouldn't be so cute.

We have the facts and we're voting yes
Hey there Imaginary Reader!!
So I was reading on wikipedia about Nazi and their facination with the occult... and then on EITMonline.com there was a mention about how walmart is selling a t-shirt with a nazi design on it. Bent Corner, a blogger from Hagerstown MD (about 45 minutes from the house) found it in the Hagerstown walmart, so be on the look out for this image on any tshirts at your local fachist world. ahh the irony is killing me here:

It's amazing how the average joe can cause such a shake up in the world just by posting a blog.
Speaking of shaking things up, here's a great idea; FANTASY CONGRESS! Yeah, that's right, a fantasy game based on congress. Score points as your fav. senator pushes pork through the system. now i loooove fantasy football.. i started it not because i knew anything about the NFL, but because this tool would force me to learn. what an awesome tool to use to monitor the government, everyone needs to be on this! i'm gonna start tonight after work.
And this freaked me out, i couldn't trick it! crazy! even when i cheated it still got me.
anyways, i'll update you all again real soon. but until then, this will have to do!

Habeus Shmaybeus
When i get home, i'm writing to my congressman. This makes it clear that they no longer have our best interest at heart. I urge you to stand up, imaginary reader, and fight for you rights before the good ol' US gets turned into a police state.

Goings on
So tons are happen'n... not only with the new phobias that come with a new job... lots of others are doing great too!
take for example Mr. Bob Stewart, my prof from Leipzig and OU was featured in The Post Online.
Kim just had the best summer eva.
Strawberry Ice hits NYC.
The EAG might be hitting Maryland! more on that as it develops.
Here's my summer's best books, movies, and cd's.
Books:
I tried to wade through Atlas Shrugged... and as much as i like it, it's repetitive and LONG... I stopped on page 635 but still awesome and i'll pick it back up later.
I've read a TON... Really liked Marley and Me and Life is Good. Those really hit home and stick with you. Then i had some of the norm, Stephen King and Neil Gaiman... Neil's Anazi Boys is pretty awesome.
CDs
I got back into Third Eye Blind's first one and then picked up Blue.. which is a solid cd, but doesn't quite make it to the first one's awesomeness. Death Cab for Cutie is quickly becoming my favorite band after picking up Transatlanticism. I finally picked up The Anniversary's two discs... awesome band and i wish i knew about them when they were still touing. Royksopp's new one, THE UNDERSTANDING is unbelievable. Panic! At the Disco and Dashboard Confessional is still in heavy rotation. Dashboards Dusk and Summer is the perfect September record, end of summer songs that really describe how summer's glitz and glamour fade away. I'm excited for my October line up of the Donnie Darko Soundtrack, Taking Back Sunday, The Gorliaz, and the perfect halloween record, Type O Negative's October Rust.
Movies
We're really into the Lost seasons one and two. The Superman Returns was surprisingly good! I also read SUPERMAN: RED SON, a graphic novel that asks "what if superman landed in Russia". That's bad assed as well. Good Night and Good Luck is my fav and really brought out how cool and ballsy (and incredibly eloquent) Mr. Edward R. Murrow was. He's my top dude.
There's just so much we've done over the summer, that it's hard to remember. It definately ran by quickly and brought about alot of great changes. It started off on a sour note with the death of my Grandma.. but a ton of good things have come along to me and my family.
I've been promoted to the DC Store Manager, which is right along my line of thinking and i'm having a blast at it. Kate, as always, is kicking ass and Sonny Snappers Greyhound provides constant entertainment. Val got herself a job for Park Mazada and is starting to realize her potential without the help of a boy. Mom is making great strides and has come out to visit twice in a three month period! It's awesome! We are a blessed family.
I leave you with this:
Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices - just recognize them.

Mix Masta!
I CHALLENGE YOU!
I have invented a drink! It may not be known to you, imaginary reader, but I looooover make'n mixed drinks in my blender. My quasi-famous Daq's are killer and i'm quite proud of figure'n out the recipe that uses real fruit!
So upon my last visit to the land of mixology, i had some left over ingredients from the Daqs. I didn't want them to go to waste so i decide to experiment and lo-and-behold.... SUCCESS!
Introducting: THE BRONX
Take a handful of red, seedless grapes
1 can mountain dew
2 handfuls of icecubes (depending on your cubes... you gotta eyeball this part)
1.5 teaspoons of real lemon juice
however much non-spiced rum you wanna put in there.
Mix 'er up and pour into a glass and you now have the poor man's Manhattan. The mt.dew carries the alcohol direct to your bloodstream.. so it has the same effect as a Redbull and Vodka. Awesome.
NOW YOU MUST CREATE A CUSTOM DRINK! i'll try it out and whoever has the best one, i'll send them a cd of my choose'n. let me know how you like The Bronx as well. I do, but Kate doesn't. But she don't like to do the dew either.
Now it's time for A Call to My Fragile Ego. I filled this out for some friends on myspace... so i guess i have to post this and y'all fill it out.

I Write Sins Not Tragedies
So i've been in a quandry the past few weeks because of a single phrase being thrown around. The phrase is "...I'm a Realist."
The phrase popped up in an email discussion with an old friend. Seemed to make sense in the context. Next it came from talking with a customer who was trying to use the bible to say homosexuality is a sin. And finally it popped up in a phone conversation with a muslim friend who was defending the Taliban and saying that he couldn't say if the decisions made by the Taliban were bad or not because he wasn't there and couldn't weight the choices they had to make "... because i'm a realist."
Now i've taken a logic course, i read books, i'd like to think i'm of a philosophical bent; but i've never heard of the "realist movement" in the history of philosophy. Since i'm a mentat (as well as a NERD) and this phrase kept reoccurring and causing a rift in my brain... i had to figure it out.
Wikipedia says this about Philosophical realism, which is what i believe these people are pledge'n their thought process to. Boiled down "Realists tend to embrace what they believe is actually real, despite how unattractive reality itself may be." Okay... free thinkers. Great, i try to do the same, but there's a fundamental flaw here.
What is reality? (OH! And since it's summer, pee'n in the pool will not turn the water colors.. that's not part of reality.)
I used to call myself a realist without understanding what it means. Sure i could be a realist, and you, imaginary reader, could be one too if you so choose. but my persception of reality is much different from yours, from a former-Taliban member, or from Brittney Spears. So when i was using this phrase, it was just a cover up for my own selfish actions. If i needed to justify a stance and didn't want to really challege myself and critically think about it, i'd just spit out the phrase.
Now i consider my self more of a deontologist or that one should "ought to live by a set of defined principles that do not change merely as a result of a change in circumstances (ie. situational ethics)." So saying the Taliban can't be bad cause they had to make hard decisions due to their situation is logically flawed. Like the Bush phrase "War for Peace" only works in a situational ethic situation. War bad. Peace good. Therefore war for peace good. It doesn't work. So the Taliban are bad because killing stadiums full of people and violating human rights and stone'n women to death is BAD. You cannot make a logical argument for these actions.
As for the "gay" statement... that's a whole other thing. People tend to confuse morality with ethics. Simply stating Ethics are the means to find morals. They are mutually exclusive in this context. There are two ways to approach this topic... since it's such a hot topic right now, and i'll state out front that i'm an ally of the GLBT community.
First we'll start with the text he used... The ol' Sodom and Gomorrah Text of Genesis 19... which i believe is the weakest one of the whole argumentive passages. (he could have used Leviticus 18 and 20.. but i'd counter that what Leviticus makes law would send the entire population of Heaven straight into the flames). Our minister, Rev. Bill spoke on this topic at leangth... and came to the conclusion that the "male on male relations" this passage lays out is a rape.. not homosexual sex. Rape is wrong period. Also offering your two virgin daughters to a mob should be brought into question as well.
The second way to attack this is the biological way. In his book "The Trouble with Testosterone" Robert Sapolsky makes a statement that says homosexuality could be a genetic mutation in species for population control and should not be considered immoral as it is a naturally occuring event. He also lays out an argument that states that most religous rituals are more than likely a result of copied OCD behavior. Interesting stuff.
So unless you like famine, disease, and pestulence, let's just go with the over-population theory and just follow the GOLDEN RULE: Don't Fake the Funk on a Nasty Dunk... and Love your Neighbor.
My Deontological stance of homosexuality is that it is love. Love doesn't hurt others wantingly. "Love is patient, love is kind." as Corinthians says. Love can't be wrong then, can it? Some may counter... that kind of stand says it's okay for petiphilia... now how can that be logical? it's hurting the kid isn't it? One party is a victim, that isn't love. That's on the level of saying that killing women is okay for Ted Bundy cause he loved doing it. Not a logical argument. Nor is loving animals or dead people or anything else on that level.
So i guess the moral of this long and boring post is... always question your own motives. everyone is more or less out for themselves, including your own person. So be nice, stay positive.. just like my hero Barbaro.
Like Grandma used to say "your potential will always outweight your problems."
Go get 'em tigers!

Our Hearts Get Bigger, But Our Bodies Get Torn Up
My family has a big part missing from it right now. My Grandma Bet passed away May 30. I have wanted to do a small tribute on here for awhile and maybe put down some thoughts... but how can you talk about someone whose been like the very air you breathe? Gma has been part of every major event in my life... it's hard to even think about it cause the loss is so staggering. but this is how it is with life...my biggest lesson from Gma is a positive outlook. Gma had a saying that summed up her life, and that was "sometimes i have bad days, but that's okay, i used to have bad years." Gma had a great life, don't get me wrong, but the last few years had a couple of huge changes. She divorced her husband of 42 years... THAT was a huge change... and she never regreted it. in fact she became more alive and spunkier than ever in her personality... even when her body was failing her.
so when customers get crappy, or i discover a fairweather friend, or i'm a little too on edge, i just think to Gma's example. The world could be falling down around you, but the sun is always shine'n somewhere.
now i've left out a whole lot of details here... and skimmed over a lot of point and counter points, but that's what happens when you're talking about 81 years. A lifetime.
My Grandma Bet's lifetime.
And i'm happy to be a part of it... and pass her on to my kids, just as we will pass on all those that have come before us. We are not original beings... we are copies of the greatest traits of those who've raised us.
Thanks Gma... you've taught me more than you'll ever know.

9. SUPERHERO NAME: ("The", your second favorite color, the car your mom/dad are drivng)
The Blue Blazer or The Blue Jimmy or The Blue Bonneville (depending on which of the three she's in today!)
Also here's movie of when Jason and I got into a fight... I'm the one in black by the way....
Oh and here's an email update that Kate wrote and I changed to make it funnier for this site.. I've also misspelled some words to try to pass it off like it's mine.
On Friday we went to Jammin Java in Vienna, VA, to see Wheatus, one of our favorite bands (they sing "Teenage Dirtbag"). They haven't toured for 5 years, and the venue was small and not too many people were there, so it was like a private concert where we got to request all the songs! The lead singer just kept yelling "What do you want to hear? Yell it out!" Very cool.
On Saturday we met up with Katie and Brian and went to Hamburger Hamlet for lunch and then saw "The DaVinci Code." Not as good as the book (of course! Are the movies ever better than the books?) but we both really liked it. At night we worked at the Seneca Valley High School After-Prom with the Jaycees, from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The event went until about 5 a.m., but I was ready to crash by 1ish. The best part of the event was right before the kids got there, when we got to play with all the games. Kate and I played basketball and got all the Jaycees to play DDR (Digital Dance Revolution--it's a video game hooked up to a dance pad, so it tells you how to dance and you have to keep up with it... good workout!). As we were leaving, the man at the door asked us if we'd checked out. Kate said, "No, I'm 26." I guess it's flattering that we look like we're 18... or that we've just been in high school way too long. :-)
On Sunday we worked at the senior high youth group's car wash. People dropped off their cars in the back parking lot before church, and we washed them during the service. It was NON-STOP. We didn't keep track of how many cars we washed, but I know it was over 25, b/c I counted the remaining keys at one point. Only the advisors could drive/move the cars, so we got to drive a lot of fun cars.
My favorite was a '76 Pontiac Bonneville, and Kate's was a Honda hybrid. Kate kept turning the key b/c she couldn't tell if it was on or not, it was so quiet (then she realized it was a hybrid--duh). After the car wash, we went to lunch at Coastal Flats with pastor Bill. Oh! We made $583 in donations for the car wash!
It's all going to the Richard Hunter School in Liberia, that helps re-civilize child soldiers.
Yesterday we went to dinner and "The Elephant Man" play at the Olney Theatre with one of my customers and his wife. We'll be around this weekend. We were going to go to NYC, but decided not to since I'm fighting a cold, and we'll be travelling the next weekend.

ConGRADuations!!!
MY SISTER HAS DONE IT! She has graduated from Kent State University! Even though she Kent Read or Kent Write, Kent State has been berry berry good to her unlike Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner who was not so good to President Bush.It was great to see my lil' sis walk that isle (yes i know... but she's going to Hawaii.. get it? FUNNY!) I got a little emotional... it's a big step. and now THE REAL WORLD awaits her... which will turn her perspective on its ear. Not really cause it's that hard, but mainly cause you get a quarter of the feedback you had in college... and people are a lot more lazy and vindictive. so she'll be ten steps ahead of them already!
Good trip back to quiet ol' ohio. Nice to spend so much time with family in their native environment. Kate and i were talking about how our perspectives have changed... how our hometowns seem slower, more relaxed and smaller. it's strange and hard to explain... but not nearly as strange as Brokeback Snake Mountain.
Also all my ol' residents from das Bruster are set to graduate! I'm OLD! But good for them and i hope they've had a great time at OU as they finish their last call.

Planes and a Cousin
It was many moons ago but our Athens relative came and visited! Garry (the Extreme Alpha Geek) came out and hung out with us. He ran around with me at work, went to the spy museum and even a Justin Jones concert (which i'll review later)! We pack in the activities around here!
The best way to sum up our weekend is by watching this video.. yeah.. that's about right.
We also went to the new air and space museum out by the Dulles Airport. Here are the pix and descriptions of what we saw. It's far better than downtown's version. Highly HIGHLY recommended.
Other than that it was a great weekend.. lots of talk of life and philosophies and such. Garry has been a tad down in the past recent months.. so here's a poem of EXTREME inspiration and kick-assed-ness:
Our Deepest Fear...
is not that we are inadequate,
our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some of us,
it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
- Marianne Williamson -
as seen in Coach Carter.. which is a SWEET basketball movie!

~E~ 06
Ah yes, it was that time again... Time to head out to where the deer and the antelope play... Time to russle up some grub and corral some cattle... Here's the pix to prove we were at the Flying E in 2006.
This year there were two cookouts.. the second one had a cowpoke that knew every cowboy song there is (tumble'n tumbleweeds to red river valley to folsom prison blues!) he also recited this poem called Reincarnation, that i thought was this side of awesome.
It was great to spend time with the in-laws and kids... you gotta see that Eleanor.. she's sooooo cute! And Clare can play checkers and chess... she's a MASTERMIND!
We also walked around downtown Tempe, AZ, home of Arizona State University and Sparky the sun devil who is the best mascot ever... esp. since the school is deep in mormon country. Tempe is also home to one of my alltime favorite bands... THE REFRESHMENTS!
This band only had two cds before they split up, but there is not one bad song betwixt the two of 'em. Two masterpieces... but the second one wasn't as well received, so the record company pulled the plug. The lead singer Roger Clyne has started up another folksier band called The Peacemakers which I will check out and get back to you.
Knowing you, dear imaginary reader, you'll want to know which record you should immediately run out and buy... and dear sir/madam/Liz Hurley, I say you should buy the poppy first cd Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy...
this came out when i was in 8th grade and it blew my mind.. i had just come over to the dark side of rock and was listen'n to weezer and the pumpkins... although my sister and ma didn't see the light and were listen'n to country (but GOOD country, albeit i didn't know it at the time).. this band seemed to be a good compromise and they didn't mind listen'n.. and listen they did.. this cd was on repeat all summer '97.
so the ranch is good... cowboys are good.. and sing'n cowboys KICK ASS! i shoulda been a cowboy.... oh toby keith... what a great song from a huge douchebag.
til next time...

The Proof is Within
A very busy weekend was had by all as my cousin Garry visited this past weekend. Once I shutterfly the pix, you will know all about it! This weekend did prove two things, first and most important is the fact that you can verb just about any website... like google or shutterfly.
Stinky Pete: Hey man, don't live in such prevarication!
LuLu The Dancing Panda: I have no idea what that word means...
Stinky Pete: Why don't you Google it!
LuLu The Dancing Panda: And i'm a talking and dancing panda bear, why don't you take a picture and shutterfly it?
The second thing was that everything changes. Change was the main theme of Garry's visit, and then i picked up a book that was all aboooot change. It is one of my father-in-law's favorite books called Who Moved My Cheese. It's a simple and very easy read, i finished it in about an hour and a half. It's a simple tale of two mice and two tiny humans who live in a maze and one day are faced with change: someone moves their cheese. Reactions vary from quick adjustment to waiting for the situation to change by itself to suit their needs. This story is about adjusting attitudes toward change in life, especially at work. How these guys got so small and why they're in the maze and even how their tale got out from the maze is not explained. And neither is the tale of when the cheese runs out and the two little guys kill and eat the two giant mice and then fall in love just like Brokeback Mountain. (sorry.. cheap joke).
Also here's a nifty little quiz to help further your view of inner-self (the results might surprise ya): PersonalDNA | Your True Self Revealed - Fast Fun Free Personality Tests

Only This Moment
This weekend my cousin GARRY is visiting!!!!!!!!!!!! We love visitors! He comes to us from the merry 'ol land of Athens. Yes... THAT Athens. The land of long nights and early hangovers. The land of green and white, where you study for exams all night. This, the second day of spring, makes me nostalgic for spring quarter at OU. The fun at Stroud's Run, trips to Lancaster, a Smashing Pumpkins concert in Dayton where we stayed at the fabulous Mr. Nick Rediger's house... oh yeah.. and all the girls with no clothes on. that was cool too.
The end of my freshman year at OU, as I waited for my family to pick me up, I surfed around on the internet and fell in love with Mysterious Mose.
Found on my favorite site at the moment, Transbuddha, it was a great flashback to really take me back to Athens. Then i realized i was sitting in an empty dorm room and, although i had more hair, i was BROKE and had no PlayStation 2... AND I WASN'T MARRIED!! EEEEEEKKKKK! so then i came back to the present and happily sold more drywall and called my wonderful wife.
werd?
werd.

STAND UP
Over the past few months it seems that my friends, family, and co-workers have really gotten depressed. Although i know most of the symptoms and stories, these are unimportant (for the sake of confidentiality and brevity, not because the issues themselves are unimportant).
my road to self-confidence is a long one. i'm not naturally self-confident, as it seems my sister received all of those genes. it has been a long and hard process to get to this point, and i've cheated a tad with the help of Kate who really sped up this process. but even in the times without Kate, say when she was in denmark or when i was in Germany... these were times of great self-awareness and growth due to the fact that i was open to change. during my youth i HATED change. say for example if we went to the county fair and a booth had moved, i'd be in a bad mood for the rest of the week. it HAD to be the same. i now have come to the conclusion that this was a mask and i now embrace change (like a change in government... but i digress).
here is a poem that i would love to share with all my friends suffering from self-doubt, weather it be from rejection, job-related stress, or just feeling blue.
Invictus
by William Ernest Henley; 1849-1903
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
you can't get more kick ass than that! the POWER IS INSIDE! go forth and kick ass. if you need support.. just ask.. you maybe surprised by who around you responds. there is no such thing as a lone wolf.. for they die. find your pack and conquer.

RIP EDGAR STILES
EDGAR DIED!I can't believe they killed one half of the 2 best characters on that show! Chloe being the bitchier half of the Potato Face/Truffle Shuffle tagteam that saves Jack's ass more times in 60 minutes on 24 than you or I breathe.
24 is officially the "show I love to hate". I hate the president for being such a freak'n whiny bitch. I hate how everyone is unable to talk about their feelings person to person, but get the feelings through uninterested third parties. I hate freedom-hating terrorists. Yet somehow, I sit down and watch it every week. It could be because Jack is the baddest-ass thing to hit TV since Arsenio Hall, or Chloe and Edgar's "I-HACK-A-TRI-BETA-SL4-SERIES-CODE-BETTER-THAN-YOU" give-and-take is funnier on accident than Dane Cook is on purpose.
Now they've taken away Edgar, that loveable tub of lard. His death made Kate cry! As Kate's husband, I'm avowed to punch anything in the nose that makes my wife cry...and since 24 doesn't have a nose, I'll keep watching til it does.

MORPHED
A new look! Just like these obviously photoshopped animals have morphed, so has this blog.
I hope to focus and post more on philosophy and book/movies/music/art-in-general reviews. Hopefully a clearer focus makes for more entertaining and less random posts (but prolly not).
Hope you enjoy and here are some more posts to look forward to:
-Phun in Puerto Rico
-New Music Check Outs (including Bella Fleck and the Flecktones, The Bravery and Stankfüt)
-BOOOOoookk Review (The Plot Against America, Night and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night)
-Destination Alienation
-Legos! What can't you do with them?
-My Humps, my lovely lady lumps
YAY!
