Stars that Clear

Another version of my patent pending HYPERLINK POETRY! For those of you who aren't familiar, i take somes songs and mash 'em together to form a new poem with a cohesive message. i think this fits to my last post.

It's funny how songs just pop up randomly into your life. The day of the last post, i popped in Bright Eye's I'm Wide Awake It's Morning cd and was just hit over the head. The lyrics hit home, said just what i was feeling. i find that amazing. This CD is amazing. It's a mix of dylan, springsteen, and cash rolled into one. i'm surprised i liked it! and then we went to the O.A.R. concert with Jason and Lindsay this past friday at GMU... and they really rocked the house! another time where the lyrics just hit you in the gut and run away with it. I never really listened to O.A.R., but their lyrics are pretty profound. very positive and transcendent. i really had a great time.

so here's the poem that sums up my last post with a mix of Bright Eyes, Death Cab, and O.A.R.

Stars that Clear

If you hate the taste of wine,
Why do you drink it till you're blind?
And if you swear that there's no truth and who cares
How come you say it like you're right?
Why are you scared to dream of God
When it's salvation that you want?
You see stars that clear have been dead for years
But the idea just lives on...
In our wheels that roll around
As we move over the ground
And all day it seems
we've been in between
A past and future town

We are nowhere and it's now

When you are on your own
not speaking out is like fighting alone
and that is the worst damn way to fight
and when you are scared no more
you reach your hand out and just open the door
and thats just what I'm doing tonight

And I'm not sure what the trouble was that started all of this
The reasons all have run away, but the feeling never did
It's not something I would recommend, but it is one way to live
Cause what is simple in the moonlight by the morning never is

And all you see
Is where else you could be
When you're at home
Out on the street
Are so many possibilities
To not be alone

We are all fascists

Quick post here, as i don't really feel like tackle'n the massive amount of things i must do today. i know the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, but i know where that step leads, and i wanna put that off for 10 more minutes.

speaking of putting things off... i've been reading a few blogs and listening to a few friends who keep saying "things will change, i really mean it this time!". i'm getting tired of it. you either are or you are not. transistions don't take that long if you're serious about change. i guess people are secure in their sadness.

the point i'm trying to make is a long one, and i don't have time for that, so here's the short point. We're all fachists when it comes to life. The world is controlled by the ego, the ME worldview is pretty limited. ME is bigger than you, period. So when I'M sad and shitty, I'M not seeing how this effects you, nor do I really care because I can't see past MY own issues/sorrow/whatever. driving people away is not a good thing, esp. when people want to help and get one out of the state one's in. but that all starts with wanting to get out of that state in the first place.

The only way out is breaking the ME worldview and coming into the WE worldview... or at least a me worldview. so that's my response to that garbage.

in addition, hellogoodbye is my current audio addiction! check 'em out!

and the current books i'm reading is START WHERE YOU ARE, Neil Gaiman's Fragile Things, and King's The Shining on audio book. All are completely awesome. Esp. the start where you are book, that's a good book on coming into the WE worldview.

kate and i are still on our battlestar galactica kick... love that show! burrito's bach. party is coming up, so i'm excited for that! lots of stuff in the works! it'll be exciting!

King of the Dorkdom

some people are very surprised that i was a dork in high school. i'm baffled by this. there is no WAS.... i WAS a dork in high school and still am! don't let the sexy fool ya, imaginary reader, i've got full blown dork in recent weeks.

My best bud Megan told me about this XBOX game called FABLE and how it was the smaw'someness game ever. So i bought it on impluse the other day at best buy and it has already endangered my marriage. yes, it's that good!

FABLE follows the story of a kid whose family is killed by bandits and is taken to a hero training center. he grows up and then starts to make choices and every choice you make turns you more good or evil. people react to you character based on how good/evil it is i.e. running away from the evil dude or having a crush on the good dude. it's very intense and ton of fun... at least for me. Kate is beginning to hate the game (although she'd love it if she ever played it.)

the game play is a mix of Diablo meets Grand Theft Auto and the character is like Link from the Legend of Zelda (THE greatest all-time games in the Lindon household) using the sword and bow. You can use more magic, but i'm still try'n to figure those out. my only gripe is that sometimes the text doesn't show up all the time, so that makes making decisions a little harder.

now and update on the day-to-day activities!

the last couple days at work have been killer. just felt like they've dragged on and that's the least of my worries! yesterday the copier attacked me! here's fotage of the attack when i was wearing my fav. black dress.

my truck is also in the shop, so i get to drive around a rental car! pretty cool right?! nooooo. here's what they gave me:

it's the size of a matchbox. it's like drive'n a roller skate. although it is funny to see a 6'4" dude climb out of a 4' long car. i feel like i'm in high school again drive'n around THE MUTT!

but it's all good. my birthday just passed and i'm 25 which means i can rent that car for cheap and my insurance is coming down! Kate also got me tickets to see the Wizards v.s. The Lakers, Heat, and Celtics! How awesome is that?! Also we went out to Hard Times and had a few beers with our fav. Jaycee friends Jason and Lindsey. Good times!

Til next time! peace!

So this is the New Year

and i don't feel any different...

i know this video doesn't show up on my facebook feed, so just check the blog. i love this band! kate still thinks that they are too affected. or is it effected? i never got that right in Journalism 103.

it's no secret that i don't really like new years... the holiday of the nano-second is not a friend of mine mainly due to the fact that it feels like a holiday of forced fun. however this new years was really fun! and 2007 seems like a year of great changes for the better.

Mom and Val came out with Chance in tow. It was great to see my prissy old dog shy away and stress out about Sonny, the excited loving new dog. We had a great visit and some highlights include visiting the postal museum, the national aquarium, and eating at Pelican Petes (best seafood in germantown!). Mom and I played some Madden 07 and she was pretty good at it!

So all is well and i'll update you, imaginary reader, about the possible changes that 2007 holds.

This Season, Give the Gift of Love

Please don't tell anyone, but i've found the perfect gift to give a loved one this holiday season! i think everyone on my list (excluding family members... except for maybe Garry... that saucey minx) needs to get this gift i saw on SNL this past weekend:

seriously... it was the funniest SNL for a long while. plus it helped that justin timberlake (the future mr. lindon) was the host/musical guest. say what you want, but i really like his stuff and style. he's my man-crush. and that's okay... .or that's what i keep tell'n myself.

so what else is going on with me besides my man-love JT fantasies? i'm glad you asked! we've got most of the holiday junk done and out the door. kate and i made some of our holiday treats this past weekend... so i guess the domestic weekend has got me all martha stewart today. we also have some weighty issues to think on as to some career moves. i would post more on that but i'll save it until things become more concrete... those of you who know me, i don't like too much speculation on action... philosophy yes, logistics no. you either are going to do something or you aren't. if you're still in the maybe stage, then talk about it, don't post it up on your blog. ACTION PEOPLE! what we're looking for is results! and as a result, i shall remove myself from my digital soapbox for yet another day until i feel like waste'n more time at work!

happy chanukah, y'all!

Videos! While you Wait!

So here are my new loves all in one post! YouTube, Death Cab for Cutie, and Robot Chicken!

Kate and I went to Death Cab for Cutie at constitution hall in november... and they solidified their place as my favorite band. they also solidified their place as kate's vote for the EMO-est band. but that's okay, i love songs that tell a story and that's what they do. here's a clip from my fav. title they played "Title and Registration"

This is just too much. Robot Chicken is off the chain!

I LOVE Calvin and Hobbes but this clip proves that if this happened in real life, it wouldn't be so cute.

We have the facts and we're voting yes

Hey there Imaginary Reader!!

So I was reading on wikipedia about Nazi and their facination with the occult... and then on EITMonline.com there was a mention about how walmart is selling a t-shirt with a nazi design on it. Bent Corner, a blogger from Hagerstown MD (about 45 minutes from the house) found it in the Hagerstown walmart, so be on the look out for this image on any tshirts at your local fachist world. ahh the irony is killing me here:

It's amazing how the average joe can cause such a shake up in the world just by posting a blog.

Speaking of shaking things up, here's a great idea; FANTASY CONGRESS! Yeah, that's right, a fantasy game based on congress. Score points as your fav. senator pushes pork through the system. now i loooove fantasy football.. i started it not because i knew anything about the NFL, but because this tool would force me to learn. what an awesome tool to use to monitor the government, everyone needs to be on this! i'm gonna start tonight after work.

And this freaked me out, i couldn't trick it! crazy! even when i cheated it still got me.

anyways, i'll update you all again real soon. but until then, this will have to do!

Habeus Shmaybeus

When i get home, i'm writing to my congressman. This makes it clear that they no longer have our best interest at heart. I urge you to stand up, imaginary reader, and fight for you rights before the good ol' US gets turned into a police state.

Goings on

So tons are happen'n... not only with the new phobias that come with a new job... lots of others are doing great too!

take for example Mr. Bob Stewart, my prof from Leipzig and OU was featured in The Post Online.

Kim just had the best summer eva.

Strawberry Ice hits NYC.

The EAG might be hitting Maryland! more on that as it develops.

Here's my summer's best books, movies, and cd's.

Books:

I tried to wade through Atlas Shrugged... and as much as i like it, it's repetitive and LONG... I stopped on page 635 but still awesome and i'll pick it back up later.

I've read a TON... Really liked Marley and Me and Life is Good. Those really hit home and stick with you. Then i had some of the norm, Stephen King and Neil Gaiman... Neil's Anazi Boys is pretty awesome.

CDs

I got back into Third Eye Blind's first one and then picked up Blue.. which is a solid cd, but doesn't quite make it to the first one's awesomeness. Death Cab for Cutie is quickly becoming my favorite band after picking up Transatlanticism. I finally picked up The Anniversary's two discs... awesome band and i wish i knew about them when they were still touing. Royksopp's new one, THE UNDERSTANDING is unbelievable. Panic! At the Disco and Dashboard Confessional is still in heavy rotation. Dashboards Dusk and Summer is the perfect September record, end of summer songs that really describe how summer's glitz and glamour fade away. I'm excited for my October line up of the Donnie Darko Soundtrack, Taking Back Sunday, The Gorliaz, and the perfect halloween record, Type O Negative's October Rust.

Movies

We're really into the Lost seasons one and two. The Superman Returns was surprisingly good! I also read SUPERMAN: RED SON, a graphic novel that asks "what if superman landed in Russia". That's bad assed as well. Good Night and Good Luck is my fav and really brought out how cool and ballsy (and incredibly eloquent) Mr. Edward R. Murrow was. He's my top dude.

There's just so much we've done over the summer, that it's hard to remember. It definately ran by quickly and brought about alot of great changes. It started off on a sour note with the death of my Grandma.. but a ton of good things have come along to me and my family.

I've been promoted to the DC Store Manager, which is right along my line of thinking and i'm having a blast at it. Kate, as always, is kicking ass and Sonny Snappers Greyhound provides constant entertainment. Val got herself a job for Park Mazada and is starting to realize her potential without the help of a boy. Mom is making great strides and has come out to visit twice in a three month period! It's awesome! We are a blessed family.

I leave you with this:

Everyone is a prisoner of his own experiences. No one can eliminate prejudices - just recognize them.
Edward R. Murrow

Mix Masta!

I CHALLENGE YOU!

I have invented a drink! It may not be known to you, imaginary reader, but I looooover make'n mixed drinks in my blender. My quasi-famous Daq's are killer and i'm quite proud of figure'n out the recipe that uses real fruit!

So upon my last visit to the land of mixology, i had some left over ingredients from the Daqs. I didn't want them to go to waste so i decide to experiment and lo-and-behold.... SUCCESS!

Introducting: THE BRONX

Take a handful of red, seedless grapes
1 can mountain dew
2 handfuls of icecubes (depending on your cubes... you gotta eyeball this part)
1.5 teaspoons of real lemon juice
however much non-spiced rum you wanna put in there.

Mix 'er up and pour into a glass and you now have the poor man's Manhattan. The mt.dew carries the alcohol direct to your bloodstream.. so it has the same effect as a Redbull and Vodka. Awesome.

NOW YOU MUST CREATE A CUSTOM DRINK! i'll try it out and whoever has the best one, i'll send them a cd of my choose'n. let me know how you like The Bronx as well. I do, but Kate doesn't. But she don't like to do the dew either.

I Write Sins Not Tragedies

So i've been in a quandry the past few weeks because of a single phrase being thrown around. The phrase is "...I'm a Realist."

The phrase popped up in an email discussion with an old friend. Seemed to make sense in the context. Next it came from talking with a customer who was trying to use the bible to say homosexuality is a sin. And finally it popped up in a phone conversation with a muslim friend who was defending the Taliban and saying that he couldn't say if the decisions made by the Taliban were bad or not because he wasn't there and couldn't weight the choices they had to make "... because i'm a realist."

Now i've taken a logic course, i read books, i'd like to think i'm of a philosophical bent; but i've never heard of the "realist movement" in the history of philosophy. Since i'm a mentat (as well as a NERD) and this phrase kept reoccurring and causing a rift in my brain... i had to figure it out.

Wikipedia says this about Philosophical realism, which is what i believe these people are pledge'n their thought process to. Boiled down "Realists tend to embrace what they believe is actually real, despite how unattractive reality itself may be." Okay... free thinkers. Great, i try to do the same, but there's a fundamental flaw here.

What is reality? (OH! And since it's summer, pee'n in the pool will not turn the water colors.. that's not part of reality.)

I used to call myself a realist without understanding what it means. Sure i could be a realist, and you, imaginary reader, could be one too if you so choose. but my persception of reality is much different from yours, from a former-Taliban member, or from Brittney Spears. So when i was using this phrase, it was just a cover up for my own selfish actions. If i needed to justify a stance and didn't want to really challege myself and critically think about it, i'd just spit out the phrase.

Now i consider my self more of a deontologist or that one should "ought to live by a set of defined principles that do not change merely as a result of a change in circumstances (ie. situational ethics)." So saying the Taliban can't be bad cause they had to make hard decisions due to their situation is logically flawed. Like the Bush phrase "War for Peace" only works in a situational ethic situation. War bad. Peace good. Therefore war for peace good. It doesn't work. So the Taliban are bad because killing stadiums full of people and violating human rights and stone'n women to death is BAD. You cannot make a logical argument for these actions.

As for the "gay" statement... that's a whole other thing. People tend to confuse morality with ethics. Simply stating Ethics are the means to find morals. They are mutually exclusive in this context. There are two ways to approach this topic... since it's such a hot topic right now, and i'll state out front that i'm an ally of the GLBT community.

First we'll start with the text he used... The ol' Sodom and Gomorrah Text of Genesis 19... which i believe is the weakest one of the whole argumentive passages. (he could have used Leviticus 18 and 20.. but i'd counter that what Leviticus makes law would send the entire population of Heaven straight into the flames). Our minister, Rev. Bill spoke on this topic at leangth... and came to the conclusion that the "male on male relations" this passage lays out is a rape.. not homosexual sex. Rape is wrong period. Also offering your two virgin daughters to a mob should be brought into question as well.

The second way to attack this is the biological way. In his book "The Trouble with Testosterone" Robert Sapolsky makes a statement that says homosexuality could be a genetic mutation in species for population control and should not be considered immoral as it is a naturally occuring event. He also lays out an argument that states that most religous rituals are more than likely a result of copied OCD behavior. Interesting stuff.

So unless you like famine, disease, and pestulence, let's just go with the over-population theory and just follow the GOLDEN RULE: Don't Fake the Funk on a Nasty Dunk... and Love your Neighbor.

My Deontological stance of homosexuality is that it is love. Love doesn't hurt others wantingly. "Love is patient, love is kind." as Corinthians says. Love can't be wrong then, can it? Some may counter... that kind of stand says it's okay for petiphilia... now how can that be logical? it's hurting the kid isn't it? One party is a victim, that isn't love. That's on the level of saying that killing women is okay for Ted Bundy cause he loved doing it. Not a logical argument. Nor is loving animals or dead people or anything else on that level.

So i guess the moral of this long and boring post is... always question your own motives. everyone is more or less out for themselves, including your own person. So be nice, stay positive.. just like my hero Barbaro.

Like Grandma used to say "your potential will always outweight your problems."

Go get 'em tigers!

Our Hearts Get Bigger, But Our Bodies Get Torn Up

Me, Gma and ValMy family has a big part missing from it right now. My Grandma Bet passed away May 30. I have wanted to do a small tribute on here for awhile and maybe put down some thoughts... but how can you talk about someone whose been like the very air you breathe? Gma has been part of every major event in my life... it's hard to even think about it cause the loss is so staggering. but this is how it is with life...

my biggest lesson from Gma is a positive outlook. Gma had a saying that summed up her life, and that was "sometimes i have bad days, but that's okay, i used to have bad years." Gma had a great life, don't get me wrong, but the last few years had a couple of huge changes. She divorced her husband of 42 years... THAT was a huge change... and she never regreted it. in fact she became more alive and spunkier than ever in her personality... even when her body was failing her.

so when customers get crappy, or i discover a fairweather friend, or i'm a little too on edge, i just think to Gma's example. The world could be falling down around you, but the sun is always shine'n somewhere.

now i've left out a whole lot of details here... and skimmed over a lot of point and counter points, but that's what happens when you're talking about 81 years. A lifetime.

My Grandma Bet's lifetime.

And i'm happy to be a part of it... and pass her on to my kids, just as we will pass on all those that have come before us. We are not original beings... we are copies of the greatest traits of those who've raised us.

Thanks Gma... you've taught me more than you'll ever know.

9. SUPERHERO NAME: ("The", your second favorite color, the car your mom/dad are drivng)
The Blue Blazer or The Blue Jimmy or The Blue Bonneville (depending on which of the three she's in today!)

Also here's movie of when Jason and I got into a fight... I'm the one in black by the way....

Oh and here's an email update that Kate wrote and I changed to make it funnier for this site.. I've also misspelled some words to try to pass it off like it's mine.

On Friday we went to Jammin Java in Vienna, VA, to see Wheatus, one of our favorite bands (they sing "Teenage Dirtbag"). They haven't toured for 5 years, and the venue was small and not too many people were there, so it was like a private concert where we got to request all the songs! The lead singer just kept yelling "What do you want to hear? Yell it out!" Very cool.

On Saturday we met up with Katie and Brian and went to Hamburger Hamlet for lunch and then saw "The DaVinci Code." Not as good as the book (of course! Are the movies ever better than the books?) but we both really liked it. At night we worked at the Seneca Valley High School After-Prom with the Jaycees, from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The event went until about 5 a.m., but I was ready to crash by 1ish. The best part of the event was right before the kids got there, when we got to play with all the games. Kate and I played basketball and got all the Jaycees to play DDR (Digital Dance Revolution--it's a video game hooked up to a dance pad, so it tells you how to dance and you have to keep up with it... good workout!). As we were leaving, the man at the door asked us if we'd checked out. Kate said, "No, I'm 26." I guess it's flattering that we look like we're 18... or that we've just been in high school way too long. :-)

On Sunday we worked at the senior high youth group's car wash. People dropped off their cars in the back parking lot before church, and we washed them during the service. It was NON-STOP. We didn't keep track of how many cars we washed, but I know it was over 25, b/c I counted the remaining keys at one point. Only the advisors could drive/move the cars, so we got to drive a lot of fun cars.
My favorite was a '76 Pontiac Bonneville, and Kate's was a Honda hybrid. Kate kept turning the key b/c she couldn't tell if it was on or not, it was so quiet (then she realized it was a hybrid--duh). After the car wash, we went to lunch at Coastal Flats with pastor Bill. Oh! We made $583 in donations for the car wash!
It's all going to the Richard Hunter School in Liberia, that helps re-civilize child soldiers.

Yesterday we went to dinner and "The Elephant Man" play at the Olney Theatre with one of my customers and his wife. We'll be around this weekend. We were going to go to NYC, but decided not to since I'm fighting a cold, and we'll be travelling the next weekend.

MORAL: Kate is HOT!

ConGRADuations!!!

MY SISTER HAS DONE IT! She has graduated from Kent State University! Even though she Kent Read or Kent Write, Kent State has been berry berry good to her unlike Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner who was not so good to President Bush.

It was great to see my lil' sis walk that isle (yes i know... but she's going to Hawaii.. get it? FUNNY!) I got a little emotional... it's a big step. and now THE REAL WORLD awaits her... which will turn her perspective on its ear. Not really cause it's that hard, but mainly cause you get a quarter of the feedback you had in college... and people are a lot more lazy and vindictive. so she'll be ten steps ahead of them already!

Good trip back to quiet ol' ohio. Nice to spend so much time with family in their native environment. Kate and i were talking about how our perspectives have changed... how our hometowns seem slower, more relaxed and smaller. it's strange and hard to explain... but not nearly as strange as Brokeback Snake Mountain.

Also all my ol' residents from das Bruster are set to graduate! I'm OLD! But good for them and i hope they've had a great time at OU as they finish their last call.

Planes and a Cousin

It was many moons ago but our Athens relative came and visited! Garry (the Extreme Alpha Geek) came out and hung out with us. He ran around with me at work, went to the spy museum and even a Justin Jones concert (which i'll review later)! We pack in the activities around here!

The best way to sum up our weekend is by watching this video.. yeah.. that's about right.

We also went to the new air and space museum out by the Dulles Airport. Here are the pix and descriptions of what we saw. It's far better than downtown's version. Highly HIGHLY recommended.

Other than that it was a great weekend.. lots of talk of life and philosophies and such. Garry has been a tad down in the past recent months.. so here's a poem of EXTREME inspiration and kick-assed-ness:

Our Deepest Fear...
is not that we are inadequate,
our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some of us,
it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

- Marianne Williamson -

as seen in Coach Carter.. which is a SWEET basketball movie!

~E~ 06

Ah yes, it was that time again... Time to head out to where the deer and the antelope play... Time to russle up some grub and corral some cattle... Here's the pix to prove we were at the Flying E in 2006.

This year there were two cookouts.. the second one had a cowpoke that knew every cowboy song there is (tumble'n tumbleweeds to red river valley to folsom prison blues!) he also recited this poem called Reincarnation, that i thought was this side of awesome.

It was great to spend time with the in-laws and kids... you gotta see that Eleanor.. she's sooooo cute! And Clare can play checkers and chess... she's a MASTERMIND!

We also walked around downtown Tempe, AZ, home of Arizona State University and Sparky the sun devil who is the best mascot ever... esp. since the school is deep in mormon country. Tempe is also home to one of my alltime favorite bands... THE REFRESHMENTS!

This band only had two cds before they split up, but there is not one bad song betwixt the two of 'em. Two masterpieces... but the second one wasn't as well received, so the record company pulled the plug. The lead singer Roger Clyne has started up another folksier band called The Peacemakers which I will check out and get back to you.

Knowing you, dear imaginary reader, you'll want to know which record you should immediately run out and buy... and dear sir/madam/Liz Hurley, I say you should buy the poppy first cd Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy...

this came out when i was in 8th grade and it blew my mind.. i had just come over to the dark side of rock and was listen'n to weezer and the pumpkins... although my sister and ma didn't see the light and were listen'n to country (but GOOD country, albeit i didn't know it at the time).. this band seemed to be a good compromise and they didn't mind listen'n.. and listen they did.. this cd was on repeat all summer '97.

so the ranch is good... cowboys are good.. and sing'n cowboys KICK ASS! i shoulda been a cowboy.... oh toby keith... what a great song from a huge douchebag.

til next time...

The Proof is Within

A very busy weekend was had by all as my cousin Garry visited this past weekend. Once I shutterfly the pix, you will know all about it! This weekend did prove two things, first and most important is the fact that you can verb just about any website... like google or shutterfly.

Stinky Pete: Hey man, don't live in such prevarication!
LuLu The Dancing Panda: I have no idea what that word means...
Stinky Pete: Why don't you Google it!
LuLu The Dancing Panda: And i'm a talking and dancing panda bear, why don't you take a picture and shutterfly it?

The second thing was that everything changes. Change was the main theme of Garry's visit, and then i picked up a book that was all aboooot change. It is one of my father-in-law's favorite books called Who Moved My Cheese. It's a simple and very easy read, i finished it in about an hour and a half. It's a simple tale of two mice and two tiny humans who live in a maze and one day are faced with change: someone moves their cheese. Reactions vary from quick adjustment to waiting for the situation to change by itself to suit their needs. This story is about adjusting attitudes toward change in life, especially at work. How these guys got so small and why they're in the maze and even how their tale got out from the maze is not explained. And neither is the tale of when the cheese runs out and the two little guys kill and eat the two giant mice and then fall in love just like Brokeback Mountain. (sorry.. cheap joke).

Also here's a nifty little quiz to help further your view of inner-self (the results might surprise ya): PersonalDNA | Your True Self Revealed - Fast Fun Free Personality Tests

Only This Moment

This weekend my cousin GARRY is visiting!!!!!!!!!!!! We love visitors! He comes to us from the merry 'ol land of Athens. Yes... THAT Athens. The land of long nights and early hangovers. The land of green and white, where you study for exams all night. This, the second day of spring, makes me nostalgic for spring quarter at OU. The fun at Stroud's Run, trips to Lancaster, a Smashing Pumpkins concert in Dayton where we stayed at the fabulous Mr. Nick Rediger's house... oh yeah.. and all the girls with no clothes on. that was cool too.

The end of my freshman year at OU, as I waited for my family to pick me up, I surfed around on the internet and fell in love with Mysterious Mose.

Found on my favorite site at the moment, Transbuddha, it was a great flashback to really take me back to Athens. Then i realized i was sitting in an empty dorm room and, although i had more hair, i was BROKE and had no PlayStation 2... AND I WASN'T MARRIED!! EEEEEEKKKKK! so then i came back to the present and happily sold more drywall and called my wonderful wife.

STAND UP

Over the past few months it seems that my friends, family, and co-workers have really gotten depressed. Although i know most of the symptoms and stories, these are unimportant (for the sake of confidentiality and brevity, not because the issues themselves are unimportant).

my road to self-confidence is a long one. i'm not naturally self-confident, as it seems my sister received all of those genes. it has been a long and hard process to get to this point, and i've cheated a tad with the help of Kate who really sped up this process. but even in the times without Kate, say when she was in denmark or when i was in Germany... these were times of great self-awareness and growth due to the fact that i was open to change. during my youth i HATED change. say for example if we went to the county fair and a booth had moved, i'd be in a bad mood for the rest of the week. it HAD to be the same. i now have come to the conclusion that this was a mask and i now embrace change (like a change in government... but i digress).

here is a poem that i would love to share with all my friends suffering from self-doubt, weather it be from rejection, job-related stress, or just feeling blue.

Invictus
by William Ernest Henley; 1849-1903

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

you can't get more kick ass than that! the POWER IS INSIDE! go forth and kick ass. if you need support.. just ask.. you maybe surprised by who around you responds. there is no such thing as a lone wolf.. for they die. find your pack and conquer.

RIP EDGAR STILES

EDGAR DIED!
I can't believe they killed one half of the 2 best characters on that show! Chloe being the bitchier half of the Potato Face/Truffle Shuffle tagteam that saves Jack's ass more times in 60 minutes on 24 than you or I breathe.

24 is officially the "show I love to hate". I hate the president for being such a freak'n whiny bitch. I hate how everyone is unable to talk about their feelings person to person, but get the feelings through uninterested third parties. I hate freedom-hating terrorists. Yet somehow, I sit down and watch it every week. It could be because Jack is the baddest-ass thing to hit TV since Arsenio Hall, or Chloe and Edgar's "I-HACK-A-TRI-BETA-SL4-SERIES-CODE-BETTER-THAN-YOU" give-and-take is funnier on accident than Dane Cook is on purpose.

Now they've taken away Edgar, that loveable tub of lard. His death made Kate cry! As Kate's husband, I'm avowed to punch anything in the nose that makes my wife cry...and since 24 doesn't have a nose, I'll keep watching til it does.

So the freak'n steelers won the super bowl... whoopie doo... best thing to come out of it is that it could have broke Chris Edwards long depression. He also looks like the taco bell guy.. check out his blog under "THE REDHEAD"

Of Plays and Postal Services

hey there Aught-Sixers,

there is life after fantasy football... my team, after being 12 out of 12 all year, made a heroic break at the end and ended up dead center at 6 of 12. pretty sweet start to my first time playing. not as good as 1st of course, my co-worker has that and constantly reminds me of it. i'm thinking about not inviting him to the league next year...

so what's up you say? TONS! last weekend was our anniversary celebration weekend. Kate and I developed a plan where one gets the joy of planning the anniversary each year and I started this year off. We had an executive suite downtown at the historic Watergate Hotel. It was great and the room was huge and we even got awakened by Republican storm troopers looking for Democratic documents at no extra charge!

We also went and saw "Shear Madness" at the Kennedy Center after eating at La Chaumerie in Georgetown. It was a RIOT and i can see why it's the longest running off broadway play. It is a loose script, meaning the actors do a lot of improv throughout the play. The actors kept cracking up at their own jokes... some at the audience's expense. one actress said to the lady in the row in front of us "yeah.. i got these cheap shears from KMart... the same place where you got that sweater." And the audience gets to pick the ending of the play. very cool

So that was the big deal this past weekend, other than that it's been work, work, and some work on the side. but here's something i haven't done in a while:

Rule of Three

Music: The Postal Service and no it's not just where my mom works...

It's pretty amazing... this band could almost be called "Nintendo Power" due to the fact that it sounds like the lead singer goes down pipes and collects coins throughout his songs. but check out these lyrics.. they're crazy!

Sleeping In

Again last night I had that strange dream
Where everything was exactly how it seemed
Where concerns about the world getting warmer
The people thought they were just being rewarded
For treating others as they'd like to be treated
For obeying stop signs and curing diseases
For mailing letters with the address of the sender
Now we can swim any day in November

awesome. haven't felt like this about a cd since Smashing Pumpkins Melon Collie and Infinite Sadness

Book:

Kate got me this for my birthday. Wives rock!

GEOGRAPHY IS FUN!

Okay MR Huffypants... think you have the solution and can create Peace in the Middle East? The try Rethinking Schools - Just For Fun Map Game and name the countries... I couldn't. This reaffirms the fact that Americans are idiots when it comes to geography... mainly cause it doesn't affect us directly.

OpinionJournal - Faith in Theory

Why "intelligent design" simply isn't science. BY JAMES Q. WILSON

"When a federal judge in Pennsylvania struck down the efforts of a local school board to teach 'intelligent design,' he rightly criticized the wholly unscientific nature of that enterprise. Some people will disagree with his view, arguing that evolution is a 'theory' and intelligent design is a 'theory,' so students should look at both theories.

But this view confuses the meaning of the word 'theory.' In science, a theory states a relationship between two or more things (scientists like to call them 'variables') that can be tested by factual observations. We have a 'theory of gravity' that predicts the speed at which two objects will fall toward one another, the path on which a satellite must travel if it is to maintain a constant distance from the earth, and the position that a moon will keep with respect to its associated planet."

Now I believe in God and that He/She acts in our daily lives and shapes things. I also believe that we are created in God's image. So knowing these two facts, why can't fundies put these two together and say that "evolution is a tool of the divine" and have faith that humans are smart enough to understand the basic operating principles of God (albeit not how the common woodthrush has 16 different subspecies).

Another thought by Darwin, "Humans are almost exclusive in the fact that they can learn from another's experiences, but rarely do it."

Theory of Engagement

I have realized that i am many things. for one, i'm inherently violent but try to repress it. i try to be peaceful, but i can be more peaceful if i acknowledge the other half. this realization has led me to my theory of engagement, ergo how i feel that people engage their problems. i will use military terminology from here on out, so my apologies.

there are a million ways to attack an opponent, and all are viable given the situation, but i will highlight just two ways to justify my point.

how i engage my problems or opponents is that i do not want a close game. no last second shots, no sliding into home after a 2 and 3 count, none of that because that does not leave room for error. i LOVE complete and total devastation of my opponents. i engage my problems with that zeal and destroy it and then burn the village, kill the witnesses and salt the ground. that way there is no way for any problems to pop up from this as there is nothing left. that is my way.

the opposite way of this is a sort of hit and run style. a guerilla warfare sort where one runs from their problems and will only fight them when they are corner, and they will fight them just long enough to escape. in this way the problems will only mount and get stronger and fuel any other problems one has.

Personally i find that many people choose the guerilla because it is easier but it is these same people who complain about the same things.

are there other ways to engage problems? sure! but keep in mind what General George S. Patton said, "No one has ever won a war by dying for his country... You win wars by making the other guy die for his country."

good words to live by, esp. in business.

Old Grandma Hard Core

It's not just a kinky website anymore! Now it's about a Grandma in the Cleveland area who plays her weight in video games! From the blog description itself: "This blog is the chronicle of my experiences with Grandma, the video-game playing queen of her age-bracket and weight class. She will beat any PS2, XBox, GameCube, etc., console game put in front of her, just like she always has."

Here is the WashingtonPost.com article that tipped us off to this marvelous person (what, you think we just search for old grandma hardcore all the time on google? maybe)

and finally some random fun if you like chicks on motorcycles!

Have you seen this shit?!

World Opinion Roundup -- Jefferson Morley's Review of Opinions and Commentary on News Around the World - washingtonpost.com: "U.K.: Media Gag Order Over Leaked Memo"

They want to bomb the Arab TV station al Aljazeera. Hey, let's bomb our friends to see if they're still going to be our friends afterwards. W is a HUGE moron and why he isn't kicked out of office because of this shit is beyond me. you wanna kick a man out who's cheating on his wife (which is very BAD) but a man who starts wars and LIES... we'll keep him.

Weeze

tons going on... must update you all soon. but until then enjoy another quirky Weezer Video! love that TransBuddha!

in this video, Rivers is surprisingly normal looking. i dunno which is more disturbing, the fact that he's 179% certifiably weird or that he can fake "normal-run-o-da-mill" geek rocker so well.

Octacular October

whew... man o man were we busy in the past couple weeks. Sorry dear constant and fictitious reader for the lack of posts. try to keep up here.

Went to Cavalia, which is a show from Normand Latourelle, one of the originators of the famed Cirque de Soleil. It is like a bunch of horses running through the Pottery Barn at midnight. i LOVED it. it meshed music and art with big stinky (albeit beautiful) animals that could trample you to death and poo on your dismembered corpse. i've seen a lot of horsie things with my horse-crazed mom, sis and wife, but this was by far my favorite.

Then we went to see the Washington International Horse Show, held every year at the MCI Center downtown. It was pretty wild to see horses trotting up and down 6th street but even wilder to see them where the Wizards or Capitals should be playing. there were a ton of events including a terrier race that was AWESOME. Imagine a gaggle of yappy jack russells tearing ass across a bball court after a smelly fox tail, bounding over jumps and ramps and crashing through hay bales. stunning. then came the nail-biter of the evening, the Puissance (which is a funny french word meaning ulcer). the whole goal of the puissance is to give everyone in the audience post-traumatic stress disorder by jumping horses over a 7 foot high wall. the winner jumped 7'5". INSANITY!

oh.. and there was a hip hop choir which sang the main song from Rent. I love Rent.

THEN WE HAD A PARTY! yay! It was a ton of fun and i hope next year to do the same thing and pack the house. it was a blast. here are the pix from the party.

goodbye halloween! see you next year!

Quick Bit

Homecoming was great (check out our pix)! Great to be back in Athens for a while and see all our friends, family, and crazy college students. And the football team crushed Ball State! so that was really cool.

We were able to check out The Bob Stewart Band, my old Leipzig professor's band. I went to Germany with Prof Stewart and he could play the guitar but now he's a MASTER! (and the inlaws LOVED it, so that's a triple plus).

Now we're gearing up for this weekend and the HALLOWEEN BASH! can't wait, should be a lot of fun.

Homecoming

Off this weekend to Ohio University's Homecoming to watch Kate funk it up with the Marching 110 and to have a few drinks with a few friends. Lord knows we need both friends AND drinks after the last couple weeks.

Kimmmmm Tagged My Ass

I have been tagged by Kim (The Accountant (who is actually an auditor and if you ask her about taxes she'll rip your face off)) - basically, the game is that you write 20 things about yourself and then tag as many other people as long as it took you to write the 20 things.

Here are my 20 things:
1. I would spend my whole paycheck buying new music if Kate wouldn't kill me.
2. I say things at my work that would get me fired at a job that wasn't staffed by 99% males (not being racist or sexist, just being direct like "quit being incompetent and FIX this problem!").
3. My coworkers and most people who know me think I'm completely nuts.
4. I’m 6'3 2/4" but say I'm 6'4".
5. I wish my truck was a VW Turbo Diesel that got 600+ miles on a tank of gas.
6. I have a wife that I don't deserve and set her above all else.
7. I hate evangelicals mainly because i used to be one.
8. I would like to start a non-spineless democratic party and call it the Neutral Party and emphasize discussion rather than towing party lines.
9. I think Europe has its shit together in the social welfare aspect of society.
10. The last three places (over 50 miles away) I've been: Pittsburgh, PA, Tybee Island/Savannah, GA, and North Canton, OH.
11. Countries I've visited: Canaduh, Czech Republic, Austria, Netherlands, and Germany.
12. I wish it was Halloween every day.
13. I dream about being in a band and rocking my high school's socks off at the talent show.
14. I would sell your soul to take credit for writing any song by Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Carpark North, Green Day, or Blink 182.
15. I waited 'til marriage.
16. Kate and I have dance offs to Good Charlotte or some random euro-dance music we have on i-Tunes on a regular basis.
17. Laughing Gas these HazMats... Gorillaz rule.
18. As Buddhist as I try to be, I do believe there is a violent, militant thing inside of me.
19. My fantasy football team SUCKS.
20. The Good Ol' Days will always mean my 8th grade 19-1 basketball season with the St. Mary's Blue Waves.. particularly the last game against St. Benedict and how I blocked "Skooter" like 11 million times. And yelled very loudly.

I can't tell time, so I'm tagging Bill Gates (he never writes me any more), James, Val, Garry, and J-Hixx. You're it!

Transbuddha.com ends the debate

People always are yelling one way or another about how the earth/universe came into being. Was it a big bang? Were we always here? Were we shat out of the giant turtle?

Michael Gange's Prelude to Eden proves that we were the aftermath of an electron battle'n a neuron.

Seriously...

great local commercials can make or break ya. this one put that company out of biz-nass. i have no idea what they were smoking when they came up with this, but it is literally the worst thing i've ever seen!

Belated Obscar to this in the category of Most Obscene Use of Sub-par Acting.

Back in Ohio, we had The Lone-Arrangers and the Trunk Monkey as brilliant local commercials. Does anyone remember them? Or here in D.C. it's Ronny Mervus for Mervus Diamonds... Any other ones out there that bear recognizing?

Utopia?

Garry as the ultimate leader? This is how I picture things to be if the EAG ever took over... only there'd be more computers. I love 1984 and this is a psuedo-spoof/Diet 1984... at least it's weird enough to work. Check out Channel 101's Utopia.

Also I love modern conceptionist art. Check out ZOOM, in a Dali-esque way it kicks ass!

Lie Girls... call 212-875-7000

Are you feeling lonely and in need of a pal? Call Lie Girls! Guaranteed to be in business for at least the next 3 years or so.

In other news, Mikey Moore is trying to blame Bush for his reaction to the devastation caused by Katrina. I blame it on the Weather Service who decided to name the hurricane so closely to Kitana, a Mortal Kombat character... don't politicize this tragedy. if you must blame anyone blame Midway who created Mortal Kombat and drove it into the ground with really really crappy movies.

Today-borday is Labor Day!

Hey everybody! Back from the beach... we went to Tybee Island with Megan, Lauren and their dog Guinness. It was a blast! More on that later (and pictures to follow of course).

This labor day, i'd like for you to know that no one loves you like your mama loves you... but GreenTowel begs the question, who's love'n your mama?

Europe Continues to Kick Our Ass

So now's a little time for an update! on my life! hooray! it's not really as exciting as it sounds! (i just like exclamation points!)

Work is good but if this tool commercial from Home Depot Europe ever shows in the states, i'll be out of a job. I have sales training this Sunday-Tuesday in Pittsburgh then i go in for one day of work and then it's vacation with Kate, Megan and Lauren at Tybee Island by Savannah, GA. Can't wait! I'm not saying i'm cashing it in at work, but i'm just ready for a break. dammit.

Past weekend was well spent with the in-laws and max, will and sarah running around. lots of kate's family, it was fun! we went to splashdown waterpark which is awesome!!!!!! but still no clay's park.

Tuesday we went to a Nationals vs. Reds game with Katie and Brian. Reds won but with no help from Ken Griffey Jr. who got out at every at bat (retire, dude). This Friday Kate and I are off to see 311 play at Nissan Pavilion. Can't wait for the contact buzz!

Also new to the blogging world is Kate's H.S. friend John David. He's come up with Five Word Tales, which i think is brilliant. Check it out and write a story (THIS... I COMMAND!)

Rule of Three:

Music: Carpark North. A Danish band (proof that Europe is BETTER) that combines alt. rock and 80s new wave into something totally kick ass. Our Danish Buddies Rasmus and Anders got me into them back at OU but this album is leaps and bounds ahead of the other.

Book: Dark Tower #7... FINALLY!

Movies: The Grudge... SCARY. Best thing about Japanese films is that humans don't always win. Americans expect to do the ass kicking, but ooooh no sweetheart, not in this life time, gotta take the losses with the wins.

Speaking of losses, many many people, well... maybe just 11, can expect to have a lot of losses as the Yahoo! draft is complete and the G'town Raptors are gonna run wild.

And OU ranks #2 on the top party skools in the nation! I'll drink to that!!!!

Last note: PLEASE COMMENT! everyone who reads this blog. not hard. just do it so i can see who my audience is... prolly very small... but oh well! thanks for reading!

I'm a Stripper

With the StripGenerator, you can create your own comic strip. Hopefully yours will be as equally not funny as mine is!

special thanks to the ever-wonderful and total hottie Kate (yay for my wife!) for reading me the joke from reader's digest*

*yes, THAT magazine that your grandparents read... shut up already, gawd. like you don't read it! i know you do. i should start a club called RD Readers Under 70, and not only would i be the president, i'd also be a member.

Fantasitastic!

THE DRAFT IS TOMORROW!!!

I've started a fantasy football league... sadly it's on yahoo... not on ESPN.com so that means no hot babes discussing stats. However it does involve family, friends and co-workers going head to head in weekly games! will this mean stronger bonds or the dissolution of my entire social network? only time will tell.

Snape!

If you're as attracted to uppity, snide, and racist wizards as I am, then you're gonna love this video (linked below, sucka!).

I found it on Transbuddha.com which is now my favorite place on the internet.

Driving in the District

As I am the most frequent poster in my family (vs. Val and Garry), i figured i'd continue my reign by showing you all what being on the roads is like here in D.C. Taken from Transbuddha.com, Dysfunctional Driving showcases what to do and what not to do while driving in a city.

i thought it funny at first, but i see 75% of this stuff on the roads every day. I'm going to try to get my place of employment to implement this system as well as the Smith Driving System.

The Obscars

The Obscars is my new invention. In the spirit of the VMA's which have been plugged to death by MTV endlessly running stupid ads for it, i've created the Obscene Awards. Pretty self explanatory.

Winner for Best Picture
I originally heard this on Elliot in the Morning on DC101. They had on Bob Saget (of Full House fame) and he was talking about his favorite movie, "The Aristocrats". Here's the New York Magazine Review that IS safe for work.

Here's the South Park version of it... BUT BEWARE! NOT SAFE FOR WORK (and pretty much everywhere else). This is VILE and OBSCENE and that's why it wins the Obscar for B.P.

Other Awards:
Dumbest Website with the Incorrect Definition
The Tourettes Guy. He also got an Obscar for Best Use of Language. Mainly he won because fewer than 15% of all people who suffer from Tourettes yell things. Tourettes is more similar to Obsessive Complusive Disorder than it is to a fat guy yelling Bob Saget's name. for the complete definition and FAQ check out the TS-USA.ORG site.

Pissiest Person on the Net
THE GEEK. he don't like the Xanga and he's gonna TELL ya!

Most Obscene Event
Re-election of G.W. Bush

Most Obscene Fact
Death toll of the Iraq War

Most Obscenely Funny Religious Site
Landover Baptist

So there is the first annual OBSCARS! hope you all agree that these are pretty obscene. please leave some comments and let me know what you think!

Caffeine, Step Aside...

there's a new addiction in my life and it's known as thefacebook.com. it's pretty awesome to do. just login and you can search for all your friends and drinking buddies from college! and even better yet, you can look at THEIR friends, drinking buddies, and what's-his-face who sat two over in philosophy 203.

takes me back to OU... which i think was like, less than 2 years ago, but everyone who's a frosh this year was in 8th grade when i was a frosh at OU. HOLY MOSES! i'm old. i miss OU. well that's a lie, i don't miss the classes. but i miss see'n all the dudes and give'n them high-fives and all the ladies in the short-shorts.

so in memory of college, i'll go slam my head into a wall to get that nice hangover feeling. ya can't do it in the real world, beer is like mucho $$! they get you hooked young and then look out!

Heavier Things

Forgive my John Mayer reference, but PostSecret is a facinating look into the nature of the human animal.

The point of the website is to send your deepest darkest secrets on postcards to an address (in Germantown, coincidentally!). The guy might or might not post them on the website. Supposedly it's liberating, and i'm thinking i agree with that statement. there are some that are really funny like "i almost never wash my hands after using the restroom" to the really heavy issues like suicide, self-cutting, and molestation issues.

here is one that i really agree with:

*special thanks to Nikki who informed me of this great site on her blog.

Is It Vacation Yet?!

look! i proved to myself that i can actually type a sentence with upper-case letters in it. i've been abstaining due to a little fight me and Mr. Creationist-Upper-Case-Letters had about my main man Darwin.... so it's good to be back on speaking terms.

i have discovered a noble truth since my last post. the key to success is all about one's comfort zone. DON'T HAVE A COMFORT ZONE! in my case it seems that the more out of my comfort zone i am, the more luck i seem to have. if you keep to the "tried and true" you're going to get bored... and worse than that is if something changes, you'll be all out of whack. so screw the notion of comfort. do you think Rosa Parks was comfortable in her seat up in the front of that bus? i bet you a ba-zillion $$ she wasn't and that's made all the difference. or Mary having a kid out of wedlock and traveling on the back of a donkey... please.

so that's my life-lesson i've picked up on. talk amongst yourselves.

And now for my other rule, the rule of three:

1. Book:

2. Music:

3. This Movie Rocks!

Penguins are bizzare, but the title looks really cool in French.

Take Me Out :washingtonpost.com

This past weekend we went to Take Me Out (reviewed by washingtonpost.com):

IT.WAS.AWESOME.

Here's one of the many, many wonderful parts of the play:

"'I have come (with no little excitement) to understand that baseball is a perfect metaphor for hope in a democratic society,' says Mason at one point. Everyone is given an equal chance at success on the diamond, and -- unlike football, basketball and other sports that employ a clock -- an unlimited amount of time to achieve it. But the outcome is never, ever certain, the game itself possessing none of the naivete of either its players or its fans.

Or as Mason puts it, 'Baseball is better than democracy -- or at least than democracy as it's practiced in this country -- because, unlike democracy, baseball acknowledges loss....

'Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature.'"

too true, too true.

any thoughts on this? i think it's crap when liberals and conservatives or dems and repubs, donkeys and elephants, and such like battle and one gets their rumps... uhh... pumped(?) and then says "as you can see, the victory here today really shows that..." no other "sport" aside from politics does that. if a coach who's team got TROUNCED came off the field/court/mat/ring/stripper pole and said something like that.. the other team would kill him... the next beating would be even worse... dear Mr. Political Cream-Cheese: ACKNOWLEDGE that you have LOST. it makes you more in touch with reality as normal people see it.

like John Kerry KILLED Bush in the debates. I mean DAMN! Kerry even went back and tried to screw it up two more times, and STILL destroyed Mr. Angry-W.-Eyes. and bush is all like "as you see, i'm going to be re-elected cause i won these debates." No, you (you being understood as Bush) won re-election cause 1. you have ppl too scared to think for themselves and 2. people felt sorry for how Kerry minced, diced, sprinkled with mint and served your own ass to you. and your advisor sucks and i hope that evil, evil mudracker gets CANNED and leads to your impeachment.

that's all... class dismissed.

I'll take my one stab now please

Everyone and their mama (even my ma) has made fun of Michael Jackson, except me. So I'll use this slightly amusing dc101 flash movie to do it.

I mean if everyone jumped off a bridge, I'd have to. Everyone's doing it.... you're not cool if you don't... i just wanna be liked, is that so wrong? you haven't lived unless you try it.

which leads me to my next segment: if you have any "D.A.R.E." phrases that the druggies were supposed (but they never did with me, am i an outcast?) to use to get you to "be a user, and users are losers", then please post them in the comments section located here > no... wait... < not there ^ dammit! where's the down arrow?! there's the other three directions but NO DOWN?! what the hell is wrong with technology?!

Cory the Wonderdog

Kate found this on the internet after watching "Dock Dogs" on ESPN2 last weekend. And I quote "This dog is friggin' AWESOME and hyper!! He's the 2003 Flying Disc Open Division World Champion."

UNREAL.

We need a puppy in the worst way.

Fallen Idol

I love when guys who think they're too cool for school try to prove it and just fall on their ass. I didn't much care for Constantine on American Idol so i was overjoyed when i found this! I dunno what's better, Mr. CoolPants biting the dust or the goofy news lady panic'n and trying to cover up.

on a side note, how awesome was Family Guy? From a nod to THE INHUMANOIDS with Gleep trying to get a babysitting job to when all the guys were hoarf'n all over the place... oh man! best.new.family guy.ever.

Jesus was a liberal Jew

This is the AWESOMEST website in the history of websites! It's sooooo funny! Religion ain't all bad, of course, but this is funny stuff. Thus i continue my war upon the Heathen Christians! Glory!

HAPPY FOURTH!

Like every year, we went down to the Mall for A Capitol Fourth and watched some 'plosions. We heard the Beach Boys, Gloria Estefan and the O'Jays! Karen, Nick, Katie, Brian, Jay and Kathy were all there sweat'n to the oldies with us. Some random trivia, the 4th is Kate's favorite holiday!

Also some random trivia; we don't celebrate the signing of the Declaration of independence, we celebrate its ratification.

D-Lo

The Man has turned into The Legend.

Dan Lowe was THE man at OU whilest i was there from 2000-2004. I knew him through Rob Metzger (a fellow Sears stock team member). He was very kind, funny, and a tremendous basketball player. I hung out with him a few times, but you wouldn't know that! He made everyone feel like they were welcome, and i think he knew everyone by name that was on campus. You can read more about him in the link up there, they recount his impact on OU better than i can.

He passed away unexpectedly while playing basketball. If he had to choose where to die, i think he would have gone the way he did. what sucks is the timing.

the world did not deserve to lose that much talent so soon.

Self Esteem

Any time i'm feeling down... or like i'm not the man... i just watch this video and i'm good to go for the rest of the day. everything becomes brighter and the world's problems seem to melt away.

In case you haven't seen it before, check out The Geek's Gallery. this pic is of rockstar quality. if the "lindons sing folk songs" ever gets out of the red tape and is produced, this is the cover shot. it makes me feel happy.

have a great, warm-fuzzy day! jesus and i love you!

She's on to us...

By buddy Chris Edwards' girlfriend Tracie has to be the funniest blogger in the short history of blogging. However, sadly, she is also very observant and therefore it's back to the drawing boards for us E.T.'s.

From Tracie's blog 'emotionaltoothpaste': "Maybe I watched too much X-Files as a kid (and adult), but I'm pretty sure that Chipotle is, in fact, an evil chain started by the shadowy part of the government (well, let's be honest, at this point the whole government in pretty f-ing shadowy) in order to aid the aliens which are attempting to invade this planet and create a race of alien-human hybrids. Every single time I eat a burrito, within an hour or so, I'm dead asleep in a spicy, beany food coma. During these comas I have the weirdest dreams. Ever. On par with The Birth Control Dreams. Same thing happens to Chris. (When I started this post, I planned to tell you all about my dreams that I had yesterday during my post-burrito naps, but after I started to tell one of my co-workers about them this morning, I remembered that you pretty much sound like a total boring tard when you try to tell others about your dreams, unless the dream is super vivid and has, like, man eating wolves in it, or something. So, yeah, I'll spare you the excercise of attempting to narrate the surrealistic, and just tell you the dreams involved a $400 bottle of Grand Mariner, a 5'6' baby, who was in fact my sister, and an alternate-reality version of Chris.) "

meanwhile, nature continues to give us the middle finger to prove that once and for all... nature hates us...

We are Family!

everybody get together and sing! what a horrible song... anyways... drum roll.......

TA DA!

The Halflings

this past weekend i met Key Alexander Lindon. i'm still thinking on meeting him and his girlfriend Amber. It's strange to meet someone who's lived 18 years without you and yet you know their life story within 10 minutes of meeting them. my mind is still trying to process everything.... but it was completely awesome!

more later!

Engagements!!!!

I look online every week to see if there are any people i know in the Times-Reporter local life section.

I KNOW TWO THIS WEEK!

Chad McConnell and I used to run around during our sophomore and junior years. AND he runs his own landscaping business! COOL!

Scott Heil was on the Decepticons YMCA basketball team junior and senior year. He drove me to the hospital when i broke my ankle.

WOW! This officially means i'm getting old. Two engagements and this weekend i'm going to Jeremy Rober's wedding back in Dennison. And I'm married and have a mortgage... mort=death... so once again i'm dreadfully aware of how short life is. i mean, yesterday i was hanging out with these guys worrying about my final english paper for Mr. J and now i'm concerned with profit margins. i never believed my mom when she said that life goes fast.... but this is crazy! can't complain though! i'm happy as hell with a big condo to organize and a hot wife to strut around with!

and how excited am i about the future? my head just expld85ryh9p43hfn9oagb87e9

STUFF MAGAZINE: Danica McKellar

Danica was Winnie Cooper on the Wonder years but now she's HOT and in Stuff Magazine. Normally, I wouldn't go through such sexist magazines (of course not, me? please--i'll keep telling myself this... i'm sad)... but damn.

except for in this picture i think she broke her neck. sad really cause she's really, really cute! and what's with the wicked witch of the west shoes? okay, maybe not exceptional (like KATE!), but she was my first TV girl crush.

*and the moral of the story is: the more things change the more they stay the same.*

Grocery Store Wars | Join the Organic Rebellion

Cuke, use the Farm!

Normally I detest Star Wars remakes because everything's been done before (except Muppet Show and Muppet Babies remakes, those are great!). But this one stands out because it's incredibly well filmed!

This is a great creative way to market. Props to the Organic Trade Association! make sure to click on "Meet the Puppets" after the film.
